I just bought a '04 V8 with 34K miles. I bought it through a friend who is in the car business and he got it at an auction. I got a good deal but, it was pretty stripped. Here are my questions:

1. The car did not come with owners manual. Where can I get one?
2. It did not come with keys to the roof rack. Where do I get them?
3. I have a 17.5 ft Maxum lake boat. What should I do to get it ready to tow this boat. I heard something about having to install a blower?
4. I need new tires and live in Salt Lake City, UT. I'm constantly driving up the canyons to go skiing in the winter but, I use the car to commute. What would be a good tire?
5. The CD player is very temperamental. It skips and now will not play any CD's. I read a few posts that says this is somewhat common. Should I get a new CD player?

Welcome
Congrats on the new truck Here is my 2 cents on your questions
1) Ebay they are always available there
2) Thule.com ( just write down the lock cylinder # from your factoryrack as Thule makes the locks and will send you a replacement key for a very reasonable price.
3) You should not need anything other than the OEM receiver hitch
4)What size wheels do you have? (check wheel and tire forum)
5) Ditch the CD's and go for a Ipod setup But if you must go with CD's you should not have a problem picking on up on EBAY or at any decent Auto electronics store or a best buy type store

I would recommend the Nokian WR's and since you say you live in SLC, you can get them at the Tire Factory. They have a warehouse right here in SLC. I have them on my Treg and they work great for getting me up to Alta.
Thule as mentioned for the keys, just go to their site and type in the lock core code then order as many keys as you want/need. I personally say just get one key and use it to take the racks off and get something better.

Not sure what you mean when you say you heard you have to install a blower, you refering to a supercharger? That will not be needed at all since you have the V8 and all the Tregs are rated to tow 7700lbs reguardless of motor.

Check Ebay as said before about your manual and CD player.

Oh and since it was not said before, WHERE ARE THE PICTURES??!! :drunk:

Welcome to the club. It’s great to see another Touareg owner here is SLC.

Since you are under warranty ( less than 50K miles) take it to a Volkswagen dealer and have them replace the radio.
We have the same problem with our CD player and have a new radio on order with the Volkswagen dealer downtown.

Out of curiosity, how much are Touaregs going for at auctions?

Also, let’s see some pictures.

Hope to see you on the road. \:D/

Give VW customer service a call for the owner's manual.. see what they can do for you.
