The sale rights to VW service manuals are held by Bentley publishing and they won't hold kindly to someone providing illegal download of copyrighted material. Keep a low profile and I suspect moderators will have pull down posts documenting anything here on how to do it.

Sometimes the documents were bought on CD and can be found for sale on eBay

Hey if you also try automotix.net you can buy the rights to manuals and info for 180 days at 10 bucks. I am using the electrical diagrams and they are good.

I thought so. Honestly I would have just gone for the Bentley except that I'm running windows 7 (home) and their website says that it *might* work on that system if you load up a bunch of work-around packages, etc.... Given that I went the erwin route and I'm pretty happy with what I got. If you have more than one VW in the house that you need manuals for, I'd say doing the 24 hour erwin pass for $35 is a no brainer in that case. Even me with just the one VW, I feel like it was a good deal. Too bad about the system compatibility with Bentley though. I had their manual for my old W8 wagon (still kinda miss that car) and found that + a vagcom to be superb.

I paid for one hour.

During that time I was able to download and save all the files I needed for my Treg and my son-in-law's Amarok.

I have all the files saved on my PC and have a copy on a CD that I carry in the Treg.

I have tried the manuals available on the web that you "install" from a CD. These are from "third party" and may not reflect you particular VIN. Also these cannot be burnt to a CD.
