Given the ice and snow 66 degrees North, the park assist is basically useless as any snow or ice accumulation on the sensors causes them to display as though you've just hit a wall. Is there any way to feed this back to VW to see whether heating elements can be devised for:

1) Park Assist
2) Tail lights that become frosted over with ice and snow so bad they're useless

Or any suggestions as to how to solve this?

Also is there any way to (other than install an external source) add the rear anti-collision light as in Europe? White outs as happened last night make it such that you can't see 3 feet in front of you.

Thanx Matt I'll try that - just hope it don't see the wax as a wall :D

As to the anti-collision light, it's surprising that they didn't do a single housing and just left the wiring capped instead of (I presume) use a separate housing.

Thanx Matt and DenverBill. I dare say the light should be on the LEFT rear not right rear for obvious reasons. I can't see any socket in the 08s other than the two in the housing. I'll check the FAQs though. Thanx

Where is this Vortex file?

Matt, euro style switch?? Any on/off switch with a relay will work I presume.

Ach so... thanx. Of course a Euro switch will run 832.13 plus ship to AK will add another 200 bucks

I still haven't found anywhere in the housing that would accommodate a spare receptacle for the fog.

Any clues re. the park sensors?
