Wow... so VWs in Aus don't have satnav traffic (TMC) enabled. (I have the CR with Innovision)
Step 1. Ring the dealer I bought it from in December. "It should work... let me find out". Nothing.
Step 2: Buy an OBDEleven, enable RDS, change 'fee based traffic' from 65535 to 1024, turn on TP. Nothing.
Step 3: Undo my changes and take the car to the VW service centre. Paraphrased:
Them: "It doesn't work in VWs in Aus".
Me: "But it works in other countries, so the car's capable of it"
Them: "It's not licensed for VW in Australia. You used to be able to change a code and make it work, but not now."
Me: "It works in Audis, which is part of the group"
Them: "Yes it does work in Audis"
Me: "So it's just VW being cheap then?"
Them: ""
Look, it's not the end of the world. It's more the principle of it. These are not cheap cars.
(For those unfamiliar, the traffic information is broadcast on FM frequencies, received by the car and displayed on the satnav unit. It's a service that car manufacturers have to subscribe to. I believe in Australia it's SUNA by Intellematics, and some (not all) major manufacturers use it. Audi and Porsche are subscribers - both part of VAG).
Anyone got it working in a CR (Innovision) in Aus?
