Hi Singh,
I also have a m15 V8 Rline, love the car still puts smile on my face even after 6 months of owning it. I have followed a few of things you have done to your Treg and have done them to mine with an OBDEleven, few things like activate traffic alerts, activate google earth of on RNS unit (street view not working), DVD in motion, R LED puddle lights (love these). Im relatively handy with cars but I'de really like some assistance activating the lane assist feature and the assisted head light feature (high beam and road sign recognition). Really frustrates me knowing your car has these features hidden away but not activated. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Singh,
I bought a white 2015 R-line a few months back and love it, we now have 3 Veedubbs in the garage, the Touareg, a GTD Golf and an Amarok. The neighbors must think we are a bit nutty :) . Yesterday I invested in a VCDS cable as I want to turn on a few of the features on the Touareg that VW are hiding from me. I have been searching these forums extensively to see what can and cannot be done and it seems you are the expert, so I would like to politely ask, have you got a list of all the changes that are possible with the VCDS cable mate? I would appreciate your guidance. Thanks...

Good to see another V8 from Qld mate. Where in Qld are you located? I'm in Brissie myself.

Gday Senoma, haha, same here 3 vw’s, two Touaregs of course and with most friends visiting in vw the neighbours must be thinking i work for them!

I am still learning but happy to help like everyone else here.
All upgrades, changes I’ve made are posted here, otherwise ask away or pm me.
Traffic sign recog, lane assist, Google maps, Traffic reports, led lights, central electronics, etc ate some things and could help with

Singh , did you make any changes while the car was still under warranty ?
I am a tad fearful of fiddling and maybe getting a rap over the knuckles when it goes into the stealer for service
Yep, mine is still under warranty and will be for another 3 years - extended
I am pretty sure and certain about the changes made and it has no detrimental impact on anything.
Just turning on options that are either available in other markets or simple, straightforward changes.

Just make doubly sure you keep a good and careful note of the original settings BEFORE you tweak anything!

You can also disable stop/fart if you don't like it.

Singh,
I live in Kellyville Ridge.
Where are you based, I'm happy to travel a bit for some assistance. The main thing ide like to get sorted is the lane assist and what ever else you think is a good option to be activated.
I'm keen to show you the OBDEleven for some comparison with the VAG COM.
Let me know if your keen to catch up and compare notes.
I cant PM as yet still new to the forum.
Talk soon

Hi
So I wonder if the OBDeleven does everything VCDS does?
It seems a little cheaper too 65EUR compared to USD 199 for the cheapest VCDS option.
Have you guys had a chance to compare yet?
Looking forward to the comparison, I feel a little bit naked without some software, as I always had durametric for my Porsches.
Cheers
DS

Darrin, I have only ever had my Ross-Tech cable. But, from what I have seen online thru forums and social media, I'd never be really confident using an OBDeleven cable.

As I have indicated in another thread, happy for you to check out the software/cable I have.

I never go away with our Touareg without the cable/laptop and my mechanics mobile number. Better than any roadside assist ANYWHERE.

From what i gather vcds allows for more changes with one off spend. Whereas with obd you can make some changes but for many others you have to keep paying or biy credits ie ongoing expediture

I have just invested in a OBDEleven device as my current Ross Tech cable won't suit my next vehicle on order.
The functions on the OBDEleven Pro match that of the VCDS in allowing coding changes but in a slight different way. There are posts which detail the screen/tick boxes needed over VCDS coding. Fault identification and clearing is miles ahead of Ross Tech in ease to use. All in all a lot easier to use if you are unfamiliar on how long coding works. There appears to be more information now on OBDEleven in forum land so I guess more are coming on board and sharing what they find.
There are pre-set applications available which require credits to access but you can get daily credits by watching a few ads on the mobile app. You don't need to spend any more once you have had the initial purchase. Basic applications are 10 credits and more complex ones 100 credits. New application are available on a regular basis, example last night about 5-6 new basic applications appeared for each of the 3 vehicles I need this for.
The handy thing about OBDEleven is it is on your phone (android) and as long as you have internet access you can access the program. The device can remain connected to the vehicle as it talks via bluetooth.
Any actions you make are uploaded to the server and it maintains a history of your vehicle (or vehicles) for quick reference.

The OBDEleven is value for money considering the cost and I would recommend it to support the VCDS cable. In my situation a replacement cable from Ross Tech couldn't be justified now it is limited to a couple of VINs so hence why I tried it. Also because you are only provided with a dongle that is linked to the phone app every time you open the app it is updated so you have the latest version.

If you really want the app allows a range of gauges in real time to monitor your vehicle's performance from torque to oil temp, battery life to fuel/air ratio.

Good to know! But more importantly what are you getting this time around Flipper Dog? Sq5?

Not a big fan of the TFSI in the current SQ5, I prefer the TDI. Just missed out on ordering the V6 TDI unless I reorder and wait another 4 months.
So getting just an option up 2.0 TDI Q5 once it finishes its slow boat trip from Mexico.

Point of interest - had a look at the new Touareg in the flesh a few weeks back, sitting in the drivers seat is next generation stuff but the outside looks like a Volvo V90 Estate with bigger wheels.

Does the OBDeleven only work with Android? Looks like it.
We're an apple household, but I guess I could buy a cheap android tablet to run it..

So with regard to credits, to do say for example the activate sign recognition hack that Singh was talking about, would that require extra credits?
My car (MY15 180) already has driver assist package (so lane change/wander, radar cruise etc) but I'd like to turn off the stupid stop/start by default and activate a couple of the nice other features that they've disabled esp the traffic updates.
By the time I buy a cheap tablet (say $60), I'm probably going to be at about the same cost as the basic VCDS setup. The 3 VIN limit shouldn't be a problem for me, as I only have one VW group product at the moment and will probably end up getting then new car when it finally arrives. (wife is a merc convert and the p-car is already covered, and my motorcycle, well it has a headlight....).
maybe getting off-topic here...

I don't really know where to post this, but it is relevant to the folks posting here ..

My radar cruise (17my Wolfsburg) will allow someone to lane change and hit me , has happened a few times.
We also have an XC60 and it is smart enough not to be caught like that.

I haven't been hit because I never really trust automation, but it kinda negates the advantage of the app.
I wonder if my car has a faulty sensor or is it what it is ?
