I just picked up an '04 V8, the putz that had it before me built a bracket to mount the front liscense plate UNDER the front end, looks like crap, just hanging down in mid-air. :chainsaw: and 6 big screw holes in the plastic under-pan (whatever it's really called).

I figured out where it goes pretty quickly, but how does it mount? I don't want to drill into the bumper if I don't have to but that's what it looks like.

The plate mounts to the front bumper, and it's a drill job. I told my dealer not to mount mine. I only mount front plates if I HAVE to. So far (knock on wood) I've had no problems.

If you go look at the photos of Touaregs on eBay, you will see that there is a bracket that mounts on the front bumper. This is mounted to the front bumper with plastic rivets.

If you are doing it yourself and you have xenon headlights, watch for the headlight wash hoses behind the bumper skin. Check the thread with the TSBs in the General Discussion forum. I think I posted the mounting instructions there.

Thank you,

I have the plate bradket, was just hoping to not need to drill into my shiny new bumper.....

I never had this chance as the dealer drilled into the bumper, however there are some great double sided tapes around now that will definately hold the number plate on. My rear numberplate is stuck down and it hasn't moved since I put it on 6 months ago.

Just make sure its the foamy doublesided tape or even the double sided outdoor velcro stuff.
