Memory Seat

Recently got myself an 08 V6tdi with most goodies and am happy with it so far but it dosen't have memory on the drivers seat:confused:.

Everytime my wife drives the thing, because she is so much smaller than me EVERYTHING gets changed and it takes me half an hour :mad:to adjust the seat back to suit (shouldn't complain really as she normally drives after a boozy evening!:D) .

Has anyone gone down this path?...........any ideas on how much is involved in retrofitting memory to my existing 12 way electric seat?
Is it a cost effective thing to do?

Thought I would ask here first before I call the dealer to make enquiries if it can be done and at what cost.

Thanks for your feedbacks, Tony

Forget it. Nobody has done it before. The memory seats are tied in with the mirrors also, so you are looking at some very serious wiring.

Not the answer you want to hear, but you are best off selling it, and buying a T-Reg that is so equipped.

I'm curious what your dealer quotes you should they have the balls to say yes and dare undertake this job.

That's pretty much what a couple of dealers said......none had ever done it before and it would be cost prohibitive.

There is another way around it, but I don't think SHE would think much of it:D.

all too hard for a dealer, and not supported. they only go by the book and surely in no manual there will anything about adding this option once the Touareg is out the factory floor.
having said that theres got to be a way of doing it yourself.

Tony, we have the same situation in my family. My partner is pretty good about remembering to slide the seat back again when she's done driving, and I make final adjustments when I drive off next time. That sort of halves the adjustment time in my mind.

Memory seats would be a convenience, but they were quite an expensive option from memory, I doubt we need them.

I'm assuming you have electric seat controls? I imagine the adjustments I've describe would be much harder if everything was manual.

Get rid of the beloved Treg or trade in the wife? Hmm...could be a hard D to make :)

Yes David, my wife does the same thing but as there is so much adjustment available I find myself fiddling with the seat for quite awhile after I get in.
Maybe a workaround would be to tell her only to use the fore-aft feature but I will need to work out how to do it in a diplomatic manner.
My BMW coupe had memory seats and mirrors......put the key in the ignition and the seat and mirrors readjusted themselves automatically. I didn't realise at the time just how convenient that was!
Resolved myself now that retrofitting a memory seat isn't going to happen but it was a question worth asking.
