larger diesel neck opening

Many of the diesel stations by me are for trucks which is good that they are always busy, so fuel is fresh. The problem I have is these stations only have one small size nozzle and most of the time trucks still use it which fill up on drivers side.

Is there a way of making filler tube wider, or a special funnel i can purchase to use the bigger nozzles?

That might be handy on roadtrips. Good find!

The fuel filler neck adapter would be a great tool for the arsenal, but it also sounds like a great way to take a diesel shower at a high volume pump (I've seen this happen once). I have been to a few high flow pumps with my Dodge RAM and even on the first notch, the fuel delivery is usually as high or greater than a standard pump. Just be careful!

Nice find on the adapter!

The rate of flow is regulated by the narrowest diameter of the funnel, and that diamater is the fuel tank filler neck which you cannot widen. And I agree with the hi-flow diesel pumps - you have to be careful when you squeeze that handle! I avoid using them unless I have too.

I agree with aircooled and oilslurper, if I use a high volume pump with my Ford I avoid even getting to the first notch...I do everything I can to avoid using them

Same here, I try to avoid them when filling my DMax.

But the real problem with a lot of the high volume pumps is that it's incredibly hard to slowly regulate them, because they have a super strong spring to overcome to even get the pump flowing any fuel. And then, as soon as you break over that spring, it's game on, and it's flowing at a high rate.

I did order one of these kits though, from a different place last nite. I found a part number online, 000-072-709. I ordered it from here:

Their shipping was a lot more reasonable than the OP's site.

We're going on a trip over Thanksgiving, and I didn't want to get caught not being able to fuel up when we stopped. I've had that happen before, and it's no fun. I've done the fuel-thru-a-funnel thing before too, with a high volume pump, and that's no fun either.

I'd chose spilling diesel over the fuel cap any time over getting stranded out of fuel on the side of an unknown road with no sign of a gas station near. And if there was a gas station, there is no guarantee there would be diesel. And if there is diesel, pumps may have the big nozzle.

Anyway I look at it it's a great way to waste $20 and not use what you spent it on.
