I tried this today, had to update to p2869 first which worked.

Got everything onto an SD and it seems like its doing the mod but then nothing changes. I checked the troubleshooting and think i've done it all like the instructions say. Checked the logs and get this message:

I believe you grabbed the Porsche/Audi mod from the webpage and not the VW-specific version linked in the top post.

 

I used another source and it works well. Full screen aAA and carplay .... Though the map always remains, ie downsizes when another app like Spotify is being used

I did not make the VW patch, just the mod kit. I was told it works with that FW version so to be on the safe side, I made it only install for that FW version. The script could be easily edited to allow other FWs if they are confirmed to work.

 

Upgrade to firmware 2869 in your case.
The patch you're uploading is dependent on 2869, do that first

Is it possible to modify the interface to allow icons and text to be displayed in a more suitable size? Now everything is just bigger (which is already great) but the ideal would be to have the possibility of displaying more icons for example.

 

Icon size is on Apple's end.

I have put P2869 on a USB drive, but the vehicle just displays 'reading usb device' for several minutes.. and nothing happens.

 

Do I need to have the modkit and the P2869 on the same usb stick to update to P2869, or just the update?

 

Just the update. That is completely separate from the modkit.

 

Hi everyone, I'm coming from Macan Forum to bring you the SD card only full screen CarPlay mod ported to VW (thanks to lprot and MH2p Toolbox for the VW portion).

This works for:
MH2p_ER_VWG36_P2869 (for Discover Premium with 15" screen, 1152x592, Touareg, MLE platform)

If you are not up-to-date with P2869, you can update using the relevant update files MIB Solution (MH2p-Alpine/VW)

This will change your CarPlay/Android Auto to be full screen like this:

Download the VW mod here: VW-specific mod (I am not hosting it on my GitHub with the Porsche/Audi mods as it contains the relatively large viewhandler.zip.)

Then, simply follow the directions on my site MH2p ModKit (format FAT32, copy mod kit files, copy mod files) and you're good to go!

Anyone had success using the VW Mod for Android Auto full-screen?

I tried the steps but it appears that AA still in it's usual windowed size.
looking at the logs, starting to think it's only for carplay?

You need this old version of the ModKit to install the VW full screen mod: https://github.com/LawPaul/MH2p_SD_ModKit/archive/93c1d9244ed89dd0399a1afe1319b4418e3090dc.zip

And you need FW P2869. I have not updated the VW mod as it was directly from MH2p Toolbox and I do not have a good way to distribute it without risk.

Tried the compass mod, to enable map in the centre screen when phone navigation is on, but doesn't seem to have worked.
The update appears to be going through, any ideas?

 

The mod currently only supports Audi.

But when I try to run the fullscreen update, it comes up with

I Tried like you describe but finally found that I have old P2665 version and got error: Currently CarPlay fullscreen patch is ONLY compatible with MH2p_ER_VWG36_P2869 train (which is good that it is strictly check version)

I have a 2022 Black Edition model with the correct head unit update, the correct ModKit and the VW Mod as suggested here... the entire update seems to go through as described but then when I open CarPlay it is the same small sized windowed version as always.

Any ideas what's going on?

Additional info:
1 - I have used ODBEleven to activate wireless CarPlay but despite this seeming to work (ie it sees my phone and asks to connect) when I try to connect it won't...
2 - I am using a wireless CarPlay dongle for everyday use, without issue.
3 - I have tried the wired connection with the mod installed but this doesn't make any difference

Check the files indentation on your usb or sd card, pretty sure it’s wrong. You should have SD_card: Mods/MH2p_carplay…/and then the files of the mod. So you just have to paste the mod folder you downloaded in the Mods folder.

 

I'm now trying to update my software to the MH2p_ER_VWG36_P2869 3G0919360xx version but despite having this on a fast SD card, I am not getting anywhere... The head unit says the card has updates on it but when I try to run update from card it just stays at 'searching for software updates' and never seems to get any further. How long should this take? (have left it for a good 10 minutes)

Car has the correct software.
The mod kit and the mod are as listed above.

All of the above runs fine but there is simply no change whatsoever to my version of CarPlay.
Any ideas gratefully received.

So, I updated my 20 plate Touareg to fw 2869 this moring. All worked fine. But when I added the Full Screen Carplay mod no changes happened. It looked like it did an update and had this in the logs:

Joining the thread here to try and both update my firmware to P2869, and then run the modkit to get full screen carplay. 2019 Touareg V6S.

Does anybody have, or can point me towards, the instructions as to how to update the firmware? I have found (I think!) the file, but not sure on the process.
