Right furious I am. Interesting fact If ya look treg didn't move standing still it was crushing the Ford and started to raise off the ground. Now I just need to find a good body shop to get the beast fix. Wow wonder if there are any upgrades I can do hummmmm

Guess they don't teach driving lessons at 'The U'?

WHY is it that drivers (chicks and dudes) in HUGE trucks/Suburbans/Expeditions/you-name-it oversize SUVs always seem to want to try to jam their rigs into the first open parking spot closest to the front door of an establishment - be darned if there are a hundred open EASY PULL-THROUGH parking spaces available just a few feet away in the parking lot?

Never ceases to amaze...

Hope you get your bruised Treg fixed up nice and quick!!!

I have to agree with everyone that posted input. The woman was not very apologetic and keep saying don't worry your car will be fixed bla bla bla. She didn't offer to fix it or make it right at that moment so I called the cops to do the report while her boyfriends truck was still stuck to mine. The police did the report and I was told I could leave. When I left she was still scrambling to produce insurance info on the truck and so on. Nothing better than new plastic parts I know theres no fixing bumper it would never be the same. The headlight assy got pushed back hard and off about a quarter inch . Its not a beater but seeing damage that could have been avoided make me sick cause once it wrecked its always wrecked. Word of advice keep high coverage insurance on your prized dubs. Thanks fellow vdubbers

Well than insurance it is!, can't stand people like that. Seeing as how she never offered to fix it, insurance is the only logical route, dealing with people like that is such a headache. Yup a new bumper is in order and it sucks that the light assy was touched, on the bright side, you get a new bumper withut chips? btw i got the same exact hit on mine and i am EXTREMELY thankful that the light assy was not touched.

It's drivers like her who need higher insurance rates! Maybe it will keep her butt off the road if she can't afford to drive..

It's not the end of the world!

The plastic bumper and wing/fender are pretty resilient and spring back into shape.

A decent body shop will soon have that looking good again.

Quoted for truth and accuracy... Nothing pisses me off more than folks that don't own up to their mistakes, or that have no accountability for their errors, as it appears to be the case with the female driving this boyfriend's truck. Worst part is, his insurance rates are going to take the hit for her stupidity.

I can understand higher speed accidents, but parking lot accidents are only caused by stupid bad driving skills persons. I had a similar situation, but a lot smaller damage (just a scratch) but she gave me 200$ to paint it, and something else a few days later ;-)..

Rule #1 of driving a full size pickup - you BACK into parking spots. The reason for this is simple - the turning radius of a typical live front axle HD truck a) does not allow you to pull in nose first since the darn thing needs half and acre to turn (as witnessed above) and b) you gotta get out of the spot and the only way its going to happen is to drive out.

It sucks...get it into the body shop and hope for the best.

no apology needed

Nope..no offence taken. My side of the issue..

1. I own a $60,000 vehicle and I choose what to do with it.

You hit it...I choose to take it through insurance. If you do not like my choice,,,then don't hit my vehicle (lol)...All will be good. You may make the offer to deal with it privately, I can choose to refuse. That is why insurance is required in all canadian provinces.....

I pay good money each year for insurance, and I fully intend to make them work for it. The fact that you ( the person that hit me) will suffer through higher insurance rates, etc....not my fault.

One could argue that my method promotes safer driving.....last thing you will want to do is have a careless moment driving your big ass boyfriend truck and hit my beloved touareg. You will always have in the back of your mind ( gee...i need to be careful so my insurance does not go up.)

my 2cents.

Actually, when one chooses to accomplish minor automobile crash repair via insured loss payout by the insurance carrier - rather than settled as cash payout between the principal parties to the minor crash - that does increase every insured parties' insurance rates - eventually.

Study actuarial science and insurance loss prevention and one will clearly understand the connection.

Also, this insured loss : carrier premium factor is one of the most significant motivators for commercial businesses and individuals - that can afford to be - becoming 'self-insured'.

When the hell did i wish anything on anyone in a bad way? I guess in your part of the world "i hope you never get into an accident" is wishing something bad on people...i truly meant that i hope you will never get into an accident...the part about the people dealing with you the way you deal with them, i do wish, and i don't think that's a bad thing....clearly neither do you. Trying to cause a gang up by using the whole "we don't like" crap isn't going to work here so nice try there buddy and i'll have any attitude i like whether you like it or not, don't even try and tell me how i can or cannot act....seriously don't get why your getting all pissed off and riled up, i didn't say anything wrong to you and for the record, your the one with the negative attitude, not me.

type4revolution: It is completely up to you how you choose to handle the situation, i am clearly forcing my personal opinions on everyone and that was not my intention to begin with. This woman is clearly not taking responsibility for her actions so i would have to say insurance it is....i don't think this minor of a hit will cause anything with the suspension whatsoever and so i like to just fix it plain and simple, doesn't mean you have to fix it cheaply, you can still get a good quality repair job without going through insurance if it is minor, if it is a bigger accident then by all means it would be up to you to choose what you want to do...that's how I like to go with it...insurance will cause a major premium increase whether it's a scratch or a big dent...that's what i was trying to get at and i am only speaking about situations where the person at fault is willing and able to repair without insurance (if your fine with it too obviously), but that's just me and all i was trying to say.

To add I agree again with alot of what you all have to say but she is 44 years old and obviously not an experienced driver in the parking lot. We both have copys of accident report with my phone number on it and not even a call to keep it off her insurance etc ect. Her statement to the police was tragic a must read. I will plan on getting black beauty to body shop for the $$$ damage. By the way not even a nick or rock chip on this street machine or damage till now oh well all good I guess better than a coward hot and run thanks y'all

It's always fun for bystanders to see folk losing their rag on a website, but there's more aggro going on now on this thread than there was in that parking lot!

Calm down!!

The accident happened and the insurance is taking care of it: move on folks, there's nothing more to see here.

I agree, this is such a stupid reason to argue about and has nothing to do with tregs so it has no buisness on this site. I will go ahead and apologize to the phoenix even though i honestly never meant anything bad by hoping you never get into an accident, lol really its not me, i don't ever wish bad things on people. Anyways im done with the whole silly thing.

suggestion

I have a suggestion...

1. we all meet at a local parking lot, somewhere in central USA ( allows us canadians to attend.)

2. We all "bump" each other with our tregs....rules are that damage is not allowed to exceed $523.66

3. Those that wish to go through insurance stand on one side of the parking lot.

4. Those that wish to exchange details and work it out stand on the other side of the lot.

5. Those that wish to slug it out "mad max thunderdome style" ( two man enter, one comes out) go at it and we all watch to see who comes out the victor.

6. We all then go home

all in favor??

hahahaha NO WAY!!!!, I love my treg waaay to much to do that and i already have some repair work to do:cry::cry::cry:.

Panama Jack: i have to agree that for some odd reason jerks seem to gravitate towards pick up trucks....don't you love the ones who lift their trucks and shove in HID headlamps and HID fogs and go around blinding everyone with their nasty 12000k bulbs?

THEPhoenix: Thanks, you are really a stand up guy :)

Noobs: ahahaha you just had to go there

Opposed.

I think as a class of citizens, pickup drivers for the most part are jerks.

I think anyone who must have a pickup, or any vehicle with a longer wheelbase than a full size sedan, should require a special endorsement on their license, similar to a motorcycle endorsement. Then, if some jerkface without an endorsement to drive a "compact killer" damages a smaller vehicle, the damaged citizen may collect quadruple damages.

The woman who crashed the beloved Touareg was totally incompetent and should be sentenced to six to twelve months of hard labor. Still working on a definition for hard . . .

I suppose no one here has ever been rudely cut off by a rusty pickup with 36 inch tires.

Funny you say that.

I just found out that in my state of residence (CT) you are allowed to drive Class A RV or converted bus, etc. without any endorsements on your license. WHAT!? I was shocked.

I dont think your proposal will be getting voted on any time soon. ;)

Getting Treg fixed by Abra a nation wide company. The Insurance company was way nicer than driver that hit me. I'll let ya know how it works out even got a rental car out the deal and didn't even ask for it. guess we will see how it all works out.
