Help. I am having diffuculty removing the stock switch from my dash. The directions on treg central.com just say to push in on the switch and turn it to the right. I'm afraid to apply to much pressure, and the switch appears oblivious to what it is I am trying to get it to do.

I tried a search on the forum here for "euro switch" but could not find anything.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It functions exactly as described. When you push in and turn, you release a pair of claws in the switch body. these claws hold it in place, and once released, you can pull the switch out easily. Take a look at your new switch, and you can see those claws at the side of the body. Push in and turn, and you can see them retract. the same happens with the current switch, and once they are retracted, you can pull the switch out. Insert the new one, turn back and it seats it self. I did that just a few weeks ago, and it worked fine.

Good luck!

"euro switch"
If you did a search under those terms you must not be doing something right. I did the same search and all kinds of post showed up about installing the euro switch.

Make sure you select the 'all terms' button rather than just 'any terms'. Here is what I came up with when searching euro switch for you:

I have a question. Does anyone know of a way to get the fog lights to go on when the auto sensor turns on the headlights? Can this be accomplished with the Vag-com?

No... turning the FOGs on is a completely manual operation.

Why would you want your fogs to come on automatically with your headlights??? Are you admitting that you're one of those drivers who uses their foglight inappropriately??? :confused2:

Are they truly fog lights, or can they also be called driving lights? Is driving with as much light on the road as possible without breaking any laws really "inappropriate"?

They are fog lights. In many parts of Europe, you would be ticketed for using them at inappropriate times.

What help are they on the highway when you are traveling at high speed? They are short range and only serve to light up the road about 50 to 100 feet in front of you and some of the road to the side of you. At the speeds you travel on the highway, you don't have the time to avoid anything that they may illuminate anyway. So why use them?

fog light usage

I dont know about others, but I like the look of the T-Reg (any car for that matter) with a good set of lights on. Having the fogs and the xenon on gives the car a certain 'appeal'. It gives it a more meaner stance... Maybe its just me.

First of all, I live within the US, and so European laws are inapplicable. I believe it would be possible to find many laws here that are violated over there. I also believe it would be possible to find drivers over there that could care less about violating laws written for drivers on this side of the Atlantic. Furthermore I live within city limits, and within a residential district with many children, pets and animals. The streets are very narrow. With cars parked on both sides of the street there is only room for one car to pass. My commute to work does not involve the highway, and so my decision to use my auxillary lights is based on criteria that was not used in the decision to question my motives, or decision making ability. It would seem to me that the "appropriate" thing to do before casting an unsoliticted, and in the end, unfounded opinion, would be to ask a question or two first.

Second of all, perhaps it would be prudent to define the difference between fog lights and driving lights. The auxillary lights on my '98 Jetta Wolfsburg were referred to in the manual as driving lights. I also find it interesting that there are no warnings, and no disclaimers in the manual that reference the "inappropriate" use of these lights.

Third, on a board intended for the posting of modifications, I think the expression of an opinion such as was posted is a much better example of inappropriate then my decision to ask the question about being able to set the fog lights to come on with the auto light sensor.

Fourth, this board has proven itself to be a great resource. I am humbled that I have not been able to contribute as much as I have been able gain. It is very obvious to even newcomers that there are those on this forum that are very versed in this great vehicle. The willingness of those people to share their knowledge is highly comendable, not so their desire to share their condescending opinions. Is being the subject of such condescension the price for tapping this resource? if so then I suppose I had it coming, if not....

GSE,
is this you're interpretation of 'right of free speech' in the US?
I don't think there was any intent from spockcat to offend anybody so no reason to go on warpath if you ask me.
a gap of 26 days would tend to let the matter rest. No need to bring it back up :-#

GETTING back to the question....can anyone help this guy and myself out if you can get the fogs to turn on automatically with the auto light swithc.....

Will the euro switch or Vag-com do this

No you cannot. The fogs have to be turned on manually.
