Following my recent experience with a dealer, I would like to start a thread on dealers - the good, the bad and the plain ugly.
To kick this off I would like to open this with Colonial VW of Medford. I have never nor will I ever set foot in the place as geographically they are 5k miles away, but I did buy my 08 from them. This example should show you why it's a place you do not want to be anywhere near.
The car came with 3 keys, 2 FOBs and a valet key. The vehicle had sat on their lot for a number of months and between sales and service they decided to reprogram 2 of the 3 keys except they didn't inform each other resulting in 2 of them being useless.
After I find this out, I ask that they at least reimburse my gas and labor costs to do a 800 mile round trip from Fairbanks to Anchorage since they screwed up. They plain refused. This sets the tone as to this dealership.
Don't know whether their tech dept. knows anything about VWs, but the fact that there is a total breakdown of communication between them does not augur well for any service or other issues. As to after sales, well I leave it to you to decide.
Stay away from them and pass this on. Please post other comments on dealers you do or do not like so that hopefully we can drive the latter out of our midst.
