Recession ain't over yet though. Things MIGHT have hit bottom, but the projected time frame of any real significant recovery globally, on a graph, is essentially a horizontal line (on the rock bottom mark) that will stay that way for at least 1 more year to perhaps 1.5. This is optimism by the way, and not taking into account any more world tragedies, whether it be weather, war, or man made terrorism.

We still haven't seen the full backlash results yet of did happen.

Will this affect VW? Probably not...but I do see those % rates coming down a tad. They did just offer 0% financing ON ALL MODELS for 36 months(36 ONLY :x) here in Canada, so that is a start.

An extremely realistic view point.

First I just want to say, I love my reg.
I visited my Las Vegas VW dealer today and they have two V6 TDI's on the lot. Wonderful, until I saw the dealer sticker.
I'm sure you've been to the VW site and priced the TDI so you should be familiar with the base price. Well the first one TDI I saw on the lot had a factory sticker of 44,050 after a 500 trailer hitch and a 750 destination charge.
Then I noticed the dealer added sticker. After a 300 tint, the total price was 54,449. A 10 THOUSAND DOLLAR MARKET ADJUSTMENT!!!
Simply outrageous. As much as I want a diesel I won't pay it. And in this economy I don't think anyone else will either. They better wake up!!

Well, like I said, my tentative agreement was I offered $1000 over invoice for a special order 2010, they countered with $1500, I said we could probably meet half way but then they shocked me with the ridiculous finance and lease terms and we've got a bullet proof credit rating.

So, talked to several lease companies, and have hired one in particular that not only got me a comparitively great rate but feels confident he can shop my build sheet around for a better deal that of course I'll at least give my local dealer a chance to match.

For those willing to get raped on price, I applaud your willingness to "help the economy" but like I said previously, shop around not only for the deal but for finance and/or lease terms that are fair since VW ain't offerin' nothing on these. They are out there if you've got an appropriate credit score.

Of course, it is true that I don't actually have the vehicle yet . . . Something could still screw this up somehow. Better not or I'm through.

My dealer originally said these TDIs would demand $5-7K over MSRP until I offered $1000 over invoice, then I got the $1500 counter offer.

With the fuel prices back down, premium pricing on these is going to be a hard sell. That's why I want to get this bad boy in my garage before the next fuel price raping occurs. You know it will happen eventually.

Newbie alert warning. First post, been lurking for a couple of months before signing up to post.

So I guess ordering one back in March and getting it for invoice is a good thing? It was built last week should be stateside 3rd week of May. MSRP is just over 54k, with air, 19's, rear diff, Nav, etc...

It's just not VW.... most, if not all, manufacturers will tell you they have no control over vehicle pricing beyond the Maroney sticker.

Dealers pull this crap all the time --- and those that do are the ones I never do business with.

Wow, so Findlay has stooped down into the depths as well, huh? That sucks. Desert Pontiac GMC did the same thing when the GTO first came out, so I figured it was their auto group up to their same crap again. Well, I guess that means there's no honest VW dealer in town then. Although, I'll bet $10 that when the 2010 models hit the lot, that one is still there and they are marking it down be a few grand below MSRP.

Can someone tell me which dealers are able to take an order on TDIs? My dealer(s) all tell me "no order can be taken and anyone who said their ordered one didn't". I need the air susp (towing) and my dealer states that TDI's won't come with Air unless ordered.. but they all claim that they can not take an order yet.. VW won't let them. thx.
