Finally had the chance to install my switch. Everything went smoothly, but the switch doesn't seem to work. The parking brake works, but when I press the Auto Hold button, nothing happens. I have my seat belt on and I've tried it while in park, Drive, Reverse and Neutral. I have a 2012 Hybrid which has had many VCDS tweets done before it arrived in my hands. I'm not sure if I have a bad switch (but the parking brake portion works) or if something has been incorrectly set in VCDS. (My lights coming home setting also does work, no matter the time setting set in the car settings, which makes me wonder about some of the VCDS settings.)

I had the same results with my 2013 TDI Sport w/Nav. I haven't pulled the panel off to check if the wires are there but this is what I got from ELSAWIN:

Wow, interesting. There really is no need for a VCDS tweaks to make autohold work. The only other reasons that come to mind are:

1- Wrong part #
2- Faulty switch
3- Non supportive ABS unit.

k21975, what's the manufacturing date of your hybrid? The reason I am asking is to see if VW replaced an ABS unit that supports autohold with a cheaper version that does not. Mine is an early 2012 manufactured on 10/2011 and obviously supports the feature. Maybe we can compare VCDS scans?

Attached a PDF of my full scan, but the notable Fault on my Parking Brake is suspect.

Looks like you may have a defective switch. Can you exchange it?

Humm am I missing something ? My 2011 has the Auto Hold how come some of you don't ? Different option package I'm assuming ? I just really started to use it the other day - it's pretty amazing ;)
On 2012+ VW deleted the autohold option all together.

Two months apart. I'd assume they would use the same ABS unit until at least next year? Does anyone have an access to ETKA to check ABS part numbers for 2011, 2012 and 2013? Last time I checked the 2012 seed to match 2011 which came with autohold.
I just cross referenced ABS part numbers in ETKA and it looks like there was an update for an ABS controller starting 11/2012. It may be as simple as a new batch of parts (which I think it is) or they could have removed that capability all together.

Anyone with a 2013 who successfully added autohold?

Looks like I have an Auto Hold button available for sale if anyone is interested. :(
Have you tried clearing the fault and maybe even rebooting your system? The second thing I would do is get a new switch from a dealer and try it, if it works then your German one was defective, return both and get another (cheaper/used one) from a reliable source, if it doesn't work you're SOL.

I did full trim swap in my '14 TDI Executive for R-line interior and tried the switch swap as well, no luck with Auto Hold. Cleared fault codes, no new faults. I find it hard to believe that VW would use a specific ABS module for the US, when Auto Hold appears in the RoW. I'm going to look at ABS module coding; I'd love any input from other users. Thank you

Just got my 2014 Lux working today.

AS ALWAYS, YOUD DON'T HAVE TO DO IT, BUT IF YOU DO, DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISKS. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU BREAK YOUR CAR OR OTHER ISSUES ON THE ROAD.

I'm going to post how I find the way to enable it, just so others can correct me if I did something wrong.

I have it enabled, but I don't know if there are any other codes that I need to change to make the car behave the same as to the factory setting. I've done a little test, everything seems fine, but for now, mine doesn't switch to parking brake after 3 minutes on ABS. I'm thinking maybe it's not time based, it could be temperature based from the ABS pump.

Anyways, I started by collecting publically available ABS coding for all T3's all over the world. Divided them into 2 groups. Group 1 is for cars with auto hold coding, basically ROW T3, pre-2012 US T3, and 2012 Hybrid (OP's coding since OP’s car is plug-n-play, the coding must be there). Group 2 is US T3 after 2012. Then compared coding for discrepancies. I'd like to have a bigger data pool, but after a day of searching online, these are all I have so I decided to go with what I have.

The code I'm looking for needs to satisfy 3 criteria,

1. Needs to be mutually exclusive between groups. The code cannot re-appear in the other group.
2. Needs to be greater in group 1 than in group 2 since we are adding a function.
3. Better to be consistent.

You can see only byte 16 satisfies this condition. I know there might be other differences between different years, but I decided to try the coding now, if it doesn't work, I can change it back and do more research then. Risky time saving move…

Surprisingly, it worked! Now I’m going to drive slowly and avoid traffic for few days to see if the car behaves normally.

Here’s the steps in VCDS.

Step 1. Hit start/stop without pressing the brake pedal, engine should not be running.
Step 2. Open up channel 03 for ABS
Step 3. Fire up the long coding helper, no security access needed.
Step 4. Select “Byte 16”
Step 5. Change the coding from “01110011” to “01110111” in the binary area, don't forget to hit "enter" on your keyboard, then Byte 16 should read “77”

Step 6. Save it
Step 7. Now your TC, ESP, and ABS lights on your dash will flash, don’t worry, turn off the car.
Step 8. Start your engine, the 3 lights should be gone.
Step 9. Foot on the brake, click on seatbelt, you should be able to enable Auto Hold now.

AGAIN, I'm still testing this coding, please proceed with caution.
