I just secured a 3yr/36k extended warranty for my 06 V8. It has 80k (and change) on the odo for $2575. It's their equivalent to VW's Platinum plan (it's exclusionary). I don't know if it's false security or a placebo affect but damn I feel good!

I'd go ahead and use the warranty to get the 80k maintenance done (pump, thermo, belt)
If that doesn't cover it, then what's the warranty covering?

Not heard of a warranty covering routine maintenance such as the 80K service items.

There have been lots of threads and posts on why some people like warranties and others don't.

Do we really need another?

forgot a detail that this warranty is from CNA. according to my VW dealer they are the only company that pay the entire amount for their labor charges (in the sf bay area the shop rates are $150/hr). the reason for this thread is i had a hard time finding a better extended warranty plan for a vehicle that is a) no longer covered under warranty, b) past the 75k stipulation for getting premium coverage and c) not costing $4k

Thanks for that update. Bookmarked for when I run out of my fidelity warranty as there are no more extension options after that.

i bought it from vw of walnut creek and the company is CNA. check out their A+ rating on BBB. (and no i do not work for vw or CNA)

I ended up getting this CNA warranty too.
My dealer offered both CNA & VW.
The coverage on the CNA had slightly higher amounts and were not exclusive to VW garages. Though almost all work is going to be done there. I was leaning to the VW Platinum but with the CNA they include a Dealer Maintance Club - lifetime oil changes (2 per year), 10% off parts and their was a few minor other "Dealer Club" features so I went that route.
Joe assured me that it was as good coverage as VW. I guess Volvo factory warranty is CNA - funny thing he said if I go to Volvo my name will be in their computer system.

He told me that he would beat the regular rates by a little over 10% better if you have a CPO. I've been talking with him the last few days and he's a good guy.
