I had the same problem even though the dealer installed mine. It seems to have gone away when I used a Ford adapter plug. Did you get a fault light in your instrument panel?

I don't have any fault lights in the instrument panel. Is it a Ford seven to four pin adaptor?

 

you said you installed your wiring yourself, did you have the factory OEM wire harness and controller or did you fabricate the harness from the green plug, on the RR quater panel to the hitch? where did you buy the items from?

 

I have the same issue with a VW Hitch. Everything (brake & turn signal lights) works except for the running lights. I spent the entire day at the dealer where they installed a new control module, and re-coded it. They say they connected it to a seven pin trailer and everything worked (I wasn't there to witness). When I got there we tried hooking up an Audi Q7 to my trailer, and had the same issue....no running lights. So on the way home I bought another seven to four pin adaptor, and still no running lights. When I plug the trailer into a Dodge pickup using the same adaptor everyting works fine. Is there a special VW/Audi seven to four pin adaptor? I am duped!

 

So I unscrewed the Pollack seven pin socket, and looked at the wiring connected to it. Two white wires coming from the Touareg are cut off and not connected to the Pollak seven pin. Are the white wires for the running lights?
