I was so impressed with this 3M Di Noc vinyl material that I had to share. It only cost me $50 and about 4 hours of my time. What do you think?

That is just hotness! :) Looks like it would be a bish to install.. Im curious as to how long it will last in that Dallas heat.. Certainly worse here in FL with the humidity!

PYSpeed.com sells material (excellent quality) and I think Eric ships wherever.

This was the first thing on my list when I got my Touareg back in October... Finally did it last night. Took about 4 hours with my buddy applying the film and me removing/installing all of the trim. It was the first time we used it to wrap interior pieces. We have done a few roofs though...

I am getting my 3M Di-noc today, but I am wondering if I really should do this on all pieces of the interior. I think that the aluminium that my car have looks alright, but I also think that carbon will really make it a lot more sporty looking. Although, all carbon might make it a bit too "matt" (dull) ish...

What's the real world feal of this material? Shiny or glossy at all?

You had the wooden material before you applied this? Now that you're done, you feel the carbon looks a lot better? A keeper? I'm afraid it looks too matte and out of place compared to the rest of the materials in the car? What's your say on that?

Btw, removing the plastics around the center consol, was that a b*tch? Is it just pull / pry it loose? Did you also remove the other peices above the glove compartment and on the doors?

I removed all pieces. for the dash pieces, pull the silver off then seperate the wood from the backside. There are clips holding the pieces on. The piece in the shifter just pulls out from the top with a credit card or similar tool. The center console pieces are held on with 2 screws under the armrest tray. The doors are where it gets tricky. You have to pull the door panels off, 4 screws per door and then remove 6-7 screws holding the silver trim on. All in all, it took about an hour to rip the interior apart and 4 to put the vinyl on.

Personally, i think it looks infinitely better. It is matte, but the weave catches the light and looks awesome.

May you please point out (maybe with a picture) where exactly are those 4 screws per door? That would help me greatly. Thanks!

I have some Di-Noc in the garage I ordered a while ago to play around with but haven't used yet... Your result look great! Will have to give it a try!

For removing trim pieces, check out "Bojo pry tools". Great for removing trim without scratching it. You can find it on eBay, and even Harbor Freight has a knock-off version.

It's not necessary to pull all the trim off. The door and dash is so flat that you can leave it on and apply the material. Just use a fresh exacto knife blade so you can trim the material easily without using much pressure. flatten the edges with a credit card after you trim it so you don't cut into your door or dash.
