I intend to check the fuel filter. I have cut the carpet, but the seat anchor is sort of impeding my progress. What tools do I need to remove the star (?) bolts? It looks like once I get this off, I can remove the plate and proceed. I've never worked on my touareg before, aside from changing an air filter. FYI, the codes I'm getting (in this order) are:

MIL OFF
MONITRS
O INC
MISFIRE
FUEL
COMP
CATALYST
EVAP
SEC
AIR
O2 SNSR
O2 HTR

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What model do you have? Info from another forum:

My 04 Touareg V-6 will start, but will die about 10 seconds after or if I give it gas. I'm pretty sure it's one of the fuel pumps just not sure which one. Anybody familiar with this?
Thanks for the help. I dropped it off with the mechanic yeaterday and he called back today saying it was the drivers side pump.
Swapped out the driver's side pump and we're back on the road!!!

I have an '06 v6. I want to open the access plate, as it seems there is no sound coming from the left pump when I open the door, but the right pump seems to operate. Getting into that compartment would help me assess more clearly.

The right pump "should" run when the doors are open. This pumps (auxiliary pump) the fuel to start the vehicle. You will need a set of "Star" bits or "T" bits. These are the most common type of bolt heads on Volkswagen vehicles.

Don't forget to take a picture or mark the hoses prior to disconneting the fuel pump assembly. There is a bunch of them. If you pruchase a new unit, all the hoses should come with it. Please have adequate ventilation when doing this repair - also, have a fire extinguisher close by. Better safe than sorry! Good Luck and have fun!

Don't forget to try getting in touch with your local Porsche dealer when sourcing for parts. A couple of folks on here have bought replacements cheaper thru them.
