Probably sounds like a silly thing to want to do....but....in the summer heat I need to be able to leave my golden retriever in the car with the A/C running while I make quick runs into a store (like Dollar General or to pick up a food order, etc). I don't trust leaving the car running and UNlocked. I have 2 fobs but when it's running the 2nd fob that's outside of the car with me doesn't work. It's not the fob, they both work fine for intended purposes. So does anyone have any tricks on how I can override the "can't lock from outside if engine is running" keyless entry feature?? Thanks ahead of time!!

So, I live in AZ and have 4 dogs. 2 of them want to go with me everywhere and I usually let them when I can. Yesterday I bought a nice 06 V8, but I was very annoyed to find out I could not run the a/c with my dogs locked in the car. I read the forums and it looked like an absolute no-go, except for possibly an expensive remote start work-around. Coincidently, one of my 2 key fobs had a completely dead battery. So, I tried using that dead key fob to run the vehicle with a/c on and it worked from just hitting lock button on driver's door handle. So, all you need to do is take the other key fob with the good battery with you into the store. Problem solved! One dead fob in ignition and one good one in your pocket is all ot takes to defeat the communists at VW. You're welcome.

If your AC has a "REST" button then you can certainly run the ventilation fan with the engine off when the car is parked and locked (won't be chilled air obviously, but there will be circulation).
And you can leave the windows slightly open and deactivate the interior monitoring before locking the car.

This wouldn’t work in places like Arizona. The interior would be over 50*C in minutes, assured death for those inside.
