Great styling/terrible name....why no diesel over here???

A V6 Diesel producing 260hp would be nice to drive ;-)

I love it. Thought I read last night that we will get a diesel here.

I'd likely buy one too if it came in 3.0TDI formtat

WOW, very sexy and sleek....I dare say better style than the cayenne! I hope that it looks as good in person as it does in the pics, sometimes these "sporty" suvs end up looking like a tall hatchback or the proportions just don't work with a too long back end or too long snout. I wonder if they will use this platform on the cross coupe.

Looks like an Qudi A5 with a Porsche nose job and interior. Which means that soon, VW will offer something on the same chassis out of Slovakia. A Volkswagen TigerShark with a 3.0 TDI. Bring it on, VWoA! And dammit, steal something off of a 1964 or 65 Corvette Stingray, and put some gillplates on the sides to let all the heat out of that engine compartment. It's only been, what, 50 years, enough for 2 generations to have forgotten that mod.

You mean like the Brunel vents on the Range Rover these past few years?!

No, I mean like a 1964-65 Corvette Stingray. Hence the name Tiger Shark. Everyone here in North America knows that 'Rover' is a name for your dog. [-X

That's three Brunel vents then...

Pricing not bad, but dangerously close to the base Cayenne.

Guess you get the supercharged audi V6 in the macan and the VR6 in the Cayenne...not sure the 3.0T is better/preferable to the VR6?

My thoughts exactly.

I watched some of the debut live yesterday, and they talked a lot about the Macan being an entryway into the Porsche brand. If that's their goal, I would have suspected them to start with a more competitive starting price. The compact SUV market is super competitive.

I love the Macan - I think it would be a great option for DW when she is ready to trade out her X5!

And, of course I will equip it to be enjoyable on the weekends!

Looking at its overall size and length, tires, etc. it makes me think the drivetrain components may be the same or similar to those that will or would be used for the VW Cross Coupe for the non-hybrid option if they plan to have that for the Cross Coupe

Drivetrain in the US is either a twin turbo 3.0 liter or a twin turbo 3.6 (no diesel initially) mated to a 7-speed PDK double-clutch transmission with paddle shifters.

I think it has great lines - it looks sleeker/racier than the Audi Q5.

I am really liking the turbo. As built for me would be mid 80's, not bad as compared to a highly optioned Cayenne Turbo. Will watch this closely.

Agreed I configured the "Turbo" with all performance options and it came in at $83,740

Air suspension (PASM)
Torque vectoring plus
Sport chrono package

Macan

Stopped at Porsche Dealer this week for some parts and was told the Canadian Macan will come 1st as Turbo, then S, then most likely the 4 TDI and maybe the V6TDI. They said if it comes here as the V6TDI it will be in 2016.
