I like the front better on the T1. For 2007, I had the black headlight housing but then put on the smoked tails from the T2 and later added the Terra 19" wheels. So mine was visually a hybrid of both gens.

Had a T2 V8 on order but cancelled it because I got a phenomenal deal on the T1 2006 V8.

I've owned both T1 and T2 and hands down the T2 is better. And as for the different years of the T2, the 2009-2010 were stripped of some of the nice options that the 2004-2008 Touaregs had including the choice of a V8 and V10 motor.

So in my opinion, the 2008 is the best year Touareg to own but this is coming from the owner of a loaded 2008 V8 ;-)
.
I agree 08 was the best year for both the V8 and V10..arguably the best overall touareg...at least on this continent.

I really enjoyed my 2004 V8 but I do have to say that my T2 is a much better all around SUV. There were so many improvements made and the extra 40 HP is quite noticeable. With my resonated secondary bypass pipes and custom exhaust, it sounds awesome and there is an improvement in performance over the stock exhaust.

I looked for a long time for a 2008 V8 and eventually one showed up on craigslist with only 8,000 miles on the odometer and fully loaded. Most 2008's were V6 FSI's and some V10 TDI's. Then starting in 2009 many of the options were deleted from the Touareg lineup and the V10 was gone and the only 2009 V8 FSI's on the road were corporate vehicles.

I'd keep looking for a low miles 2008 V8, maybe you'll get lucky like I did. .
THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!!! The way you describe it just makes me drool continuously on end, here i was crossing every body part i could possibly cross hoping that you would be like "oh the 2008 fsi is a little better but not that noticeable" but i was too naive in thinking you would say that!!!! like you say, V6 fsi is very very easy to find but V8 fsi is very very very very difficult, especially with the options i like. But now that you have gone and described it like that, i have no choice but to keep looking until the right treg comes along.....have i ever said that campanella white was my favourite color too? you have the exact one i would like, only would like to have sienna leather instead.

SO THE HUNT BEGINS

This is not helping me either!!!!! CANNOT WAIT.......MUST RESIST TEMPTATION.....CANNOT RESIST!!!!!!
Hey Tai -- no offense meant, but either buy something or don't. We get it. You've said it many times that you're lusting after older Touaregs with bigger engines. The unicorn vehicle everyone seeks (with perfect mileage, loaded with features) doesn't exist. Beggars can't really be choosers; the longer you wait, the less likely you are to find one.

Carpe diem.

There is nothing wrong with doing some research here on Club Touareg and asking advice from forum members.

Now he knows what he wants, it's time to search for the Touareg he desires .

Good luck in your search.

Lets just relax there buddy, its none of your business how many times i post something or what i post, i was asking a Perry01 a question and he answered my question and other members joined in too, this is a forum, people post their opinions and if you don't like my posts, feel free to block me. I have posted it many times because it has come up on many occations and in this particular case i was asking a question to which i replied after i got a response (thats how these things work). All my posts on the subject have been in a pretty short time frame of a couple months, i just sold my treg a week ago and the search has just began now, i love how you make it sound like its all i ever go on about or like i have been talking about it for years....i don't know if you have ever searched for a V8 fsi treg, Perry01 has, as i am now and it is damn difficult and finding one is hard enough, finding one with the options i want is harder and i am not settling until that happens.

Thanks Perry01 for the input and i CANNOT wait to make the thread with pics when i finally find my dream treg!!!!!!

What's wrong with the young 'uns these days, dreaming about cars. I think the last time I dreamt about a car was after I starting knocking boots in the back seat of a too small 1967 Beetle, and wanting a squareback so we didn't have to do it in kinky bunched up positions.

You were doing it all wrong . . . again.

Now if you'd centred her on the rear seat, dropped the front door windows so she'd got somewhere to rest her heels, you'd have been good to go!

And if she liked a bit of S&M you just wind the windows up until her Achilles tendons get pinched and RIDE, COWBOY, RIDE!

Type 3's had a ton of roomback there...plus you could get high off the gas fumes. Saved a few bucks on booze thanks to that
