You're probably right and likewise 95% of people probably never go offroad either. I [we on this forum for the most part] unfortunately happen to be in the 5% that do.

VW moved upmarket with the Phaeton and Touareg, and now they are repositioning downmarket...I'm sure the studies they have done will show that those who can afford a full jam V8 or V10 Touareg will likely move up to a Cayenne if they really want big power and A/S. The V6 TDI is also coming in the Cayenne and I have no doubt that Porsche is more than happy to take your money on that option...I know I have no interest in either a V6 gas or V6 TDI (not enough power), so my options come replacement time are limited to a Cayenne or something different.

I would think that V6 TDI would get you going just as well as your V8 perhaps a little better [have you driven one Nick?], you just wouldn't quite have the top end. Unfortunately, the Cayenne is something I've always considered fugly and the new spy pics I'm seeing are making that opinion worse not better.

We'll either take the Treg TDI without air [doubtful] or keep driving the XC90 another year at least to see how badly they butcher the 2011.

Or maybe we'll get lucky and this is just another off again on again rumour thing and air we'll be available on special order ...:dance:

I did drive it extensively and it just doesn't do it for me...its better than the V6 gas but it doesn't have anywhere near the punch off the line or the acceleration of my V8.

X2. I drove both and the V6TDi is nice but it's a step below the V8 in terms of power (towing might be a different story.) I also drove the new Q7TDI (even took it home for the night) and even though it the same motor and same specs i found it to be far more responsive and it felt more powerful... i was very impressed with the Q7 TDI's power and driveability... the Touareg V6Tdi was "good"... but it felt like there was a lot more turbo lag... while there was almost none with the Q7.

The q7tdi can't be ordered with air from what the online build guide allows - have you by chance asked that directly to anyone? aside from no low range and locker, at least the air lift was cool for the q going on rougher gravel roads to trail heads for hiking or the like.

There are no 09 Q7 TDIs with air (at least any that are not pre-sold.) For 2010, YES.. you can order air susp, it is a stand alone option and it's on the order guide... i put together an order and wrote a check.. then found out i couldn't order an S-Line TDI in 2010 so we walked.

Bluetooth is now standard on all 2010 models. It's the 9W3 option aka the "Skoda" unit. It has Bluetooth audio streaming. That means the US market will be getting the right side steering wheel stalk that has the phone button.

The 2009 TDi i drove the other day had factory bluetooth with the BT buttons on the right side steering wheel stalk. I think i am going to order up the parts and add factory BT to my RNS510 in my 08.

The A module is whats currently in the ETKA. I think you can use the D module. You can get either one on ebay. There is this really good Polish seller that sells them at a good price. You'll still need a new right side steering wheel module with the phone button.

The RNS-510 part number is now 7L6 035 684 A which has a new firmware. The Mute button is now the Phone button. If you have a 9W3 kit installed on a non A model the Mute button becomes the phone button. You can also get a firmware update disc which updates it to the A firmware.

Here is the D kit. Just make sure your dealer codes this and the steering module. VCDS can code the the stalk but not the bluetooth kit. He also sells the A module which also has to be coded. Same module really but no Bluetooth Audio.

All 2009 Touareg's with the RNS-510 and the 9W3 option use 1Z0 035 729 A. Might want to use that since it's guaranteed compatible. Not sure if the D is compatible. The ETKA says the A part is the one to get. It will require the dealer to code it since VCDS is wrong in that regards. I think the D might just work.

This is from a 09 Touareg with the 9W3 module. This particular one has the Color MFD display. BAP isn't enabled on this module. Hope this helps.
