Up around here they are selling the 2SS at MSRP. I'm guessing by the time the '11s are coming off the line that number should look more like the typical 15%-20% off MSRP you see from GM.

Interesting. That may be the way to go. Now if we could just get "13 year vet" to sell us some Camaros like the same great deals he is selling Touaregs for.......
Colonial Chevy wanted 2k over MSRP for the 2LT and 5k over MSRP for the 2SS. Priority wanted 7k over MSRP for any model.
I have also heard that Chevy already has 18,000 firm orders in process now. It will only be a matter of time before they are going for just under MSRP once the newness wears off.
LOL, Have to love our local dealers, wonder what the crackheads at RK are asking. My friend has a build date next Monday on 2SS, Les Standford up in MI where he ordered it from said place your order today it will have a build date of Nov or Dec. I was thinking the 3 month wait for the wife's V6 TDI Touareg is bad. It should be hitting Davisville RI today..... Waiting on a call saying it's been invoiced.

I read last week GM added a second shift to the production line. I've been looking at the new Solstice GXP Coupe, but everyone thinks it's made of gold too. I laugh when they say they want MSRP for it, yea call me after 1 June when GM has filed Ch 11 with an real offer.

RK is one of the worst around here. When I was looking to buy my Subaru I went there....what a joke. I ended up buying from Perry and it could not have been better.

Where did you order your TDI from??

Yeah I know its a Chevy, but I'm liking the new Camaro...saw one live and in person and its stunning. 426 horsepower is very appealing too.

Alright, let me have it for having some Camaro lust!
Ummm one of my friend told me that too, he's liking Camaro the moment he have seen it.. I still don't see any Camaro in person.. But I hope so.. Can you post here some of Camaro pictures?..

Thank you!

Ya, I'll let you have it. ;):D

When my cousin came up for a visit from Greece(his first time in North America BTW) a few months ago, he FINALLY had a chance to take a spin with me in my Alpina BMW Turbo(see sig below), that I had always talked about when I visited them. I've owned that car for about 20 years BTW! We have been through much together....

Anyways, long story short. Went on the computer, registered the car "back on road from winter storage" via the SAAQ website. Took my car out of the garage for the first time since its winter storage basically, just to give my cousin a ride. Battery was dead, charged it up fast fast with my battery charger, reconnected the battery, started it up, came to life with no hesitation, we both entered the car, drove the car gently for about 5km to get everyting all warmed and juiced up properly, and lo and behold, what pulls up beside me at a stop sign on Samson Blvd? You guessed it! And the "ss" version to boot. Interesting also, that this was the very first time that my cousin was getting to see some US muscle car action LIVE, pull up beside me. I'll have to openly admit, the moment this guy pulled up beside me, I muttered in my head, "could it not have been something else?" I thought those words, because I knew nothing about this car, except that it was faaaast in the media reviews. So we went at it. Both took off at the same time, 1st gear he immediately took me by 1 car length(HEY! I don't have all that traction control wizardry on my 87 ) , but nevertheless I got pissed, and in my subconscious well trained haste, when I semi powered shifted into second, my car lurched forward like a frog literally, and now we were side by side....as soon as I redlined in 2nd and really power shifted into 3rd, I started to over take him. At that point, as it was my turn to be 1 car length ahead of him, and gaining some pace(at a quick walks pace, nothing too crazy and drastic), he let off the gas . My cousin at that point was screaming in my ear in Greek, holy ****** your car is ****** blah blah! As we approached a set of traffic lights a few hundred meters down the road, I came to a stop, and waited for him, as I was all pumped up with adrenaline now. I was ready for a second round, and maybe I'd perfect my launch a little better this time around(HEY! I was out of practice with a 5 speed stick, driving a tiptronic slush box instead all friggin' winter!) But alas, he stopped short a full car length, not willing to pull up beside me like a true sport. I guess he was embarrassed? ;) Can't blame him....

So you go buy yourself one Nick....and I'll be waiting ;)

Oh and to some of the fuel mileage posts on the previous pages of this thread. When I'm cruising with cruise control on(not on boost) at around 120-130km/h I'm still averaging about mid to high 20's mpg ;)

LOL....good drag race story..I'm familiar with Samson blvd as well, my Cousin has a 300ZX twin turbo with 700HP and mickey thomson slicks!

I bought the V10 as a toy, If I would buy a Camaro I'd get a supercharger for it immediately...625HP would beat just about anything.

I'd never want to race your V10 TDI. It's considered a "friend" by the Alpina ;)

First off, 600HP on the Camaro would be the equivalent to about 400HP on my MUCH LIGHTER E30 chassis ;) As for the supercharger on the Camaro thing, do consider something significant that I omitted in my "long story short" bit up top. Due to the fact that it was the first time I took out the beast after its winters slumber, just to be safe, or call it my paranoia, I adjusted the turbo boost down to 7 psi, from the 12psi it was at before. That was a significant chunk of HP dropped right there. I was worried about the old stale 7+ month gasoline in the tank.
I've had it as high as 16 psi on my ol' T04E 60Trim/P Trim Turbine, 0.58 exhaust housing tubocharger. In fact, at anything over 14psi is where it hits its efficiency(sweet spot) on my set up. The only reason why I run lower boost(and I getted mocked about this) is because I truly find that after a while, a 400-500+HP vehicle that ways under 3000lB just ain't no fun anymore. It gets tiring while driving to the local store if you will. Plus I like the idea that my engine set up is over engineered for the amount that I ask of it at the lower boost levels. Over engineering is a "turn on" of mine BTW ;)

10-12 psi is perfect for most of my needs. Now if the situation arises, that the boost must be increased, I'll do it.

The 300Z can be a mean beast. So can the Camaro. But call me a snob. One is jap scrap with no character and driving personality, and the other is well, you know...a Chevy? :evil_laugh:

got to see the camaro up close at the la car show. for the life of me i can't figure out what the hell is wrong with american car companies and their interiors. same thing with the dodge challenger.

The interior looks like my 2 year old designed it...meaning its cute but I wouldn't pay for it.

I'll admit the E30 is still the essence of BMW to me...maybe its because they were current when I was a kid, but no car (to this day) turns me on more than an E30 M3 (in white please)

Jap cars are ok for what they are...never iconic, always copycat. the early 90s 300ZX was a knock off of the 944 that came in the 80s, and heck the 80s version of the 300zx reminded me of the '82 Firebird.

Yup, 944 copy indeed  The 944 was the 2nd car that I ever owned by the way, when I lived in Florida, back in 88-89. Great car, super handling!!

E30 M3 =P~ My next step up dream from what I already have was to own an E30 M3 with a M5(E34) engine swap done. Turbocharged of course ;)
But with a growing family, those days are now over for me. My wife is even pushing me to sell what I have, but that will never happen. I will never be able to handle the sight of someone else driving that car after 20 years of ownership. If anything, I will part it out....

.....and then with that money(and PLENTY of spare change left) I will secretly supercharge the Touareg V8 behind her back :-$

In keeping with your title thread bring ooon the Camaro!!

Being a former 89 IROC-Z owner (no mullet), I think the nose needs some refinement. Other than that, you can't do much better out the of the box with the HP/$.

What is gm thinking?? The company is in the toilet and this is what is supposed to help the company?! We are in a recession and this is what they do?! It goes to show how out of touch gm is with the economy. But it does seem to be tugging on a few emotions from some people here. Personally, I never have liked camaros. Just my opinion!

Its not like a car is designed and developed in a week or two...it takes a number of years, and this decision was likely made 4 or 5 years ago when GM was watching the Mustang sell 100,000 copies per year...it makes sense that they wanted a piece of this market...I don't think anyone expected the economy to hit the toilet so here it is.

426 horsepower is addictive...the Camaro is like a trashy girl, maybe you're embarrassed to be seen with her but she's a lot of fun when you get alone.

I've seen it in person, not a fan. The Charger looks more interesting to me.

Sorry, I meant to say Challenger.
