My dealer is trying to locate an 06 Treg V8 with package 3 and 19" wheels. I've looked at the pricing guide I found on this wonderful sight and it appears the 07's are less expensive. Also, the V8 now has 350 HP. Are they otherwise decontenting to lower the price or is it truly less expensive in 07. Also I thought stonger engine would wait for 08. Is the stronger engine available in early 07?

The engine upgrade on the V8 is related to the Audi Q7 release (don't forget these cars share a lot of similar components).

As for the pricing, VW must have finally come to the realization that the series of deep discounting cycles they have been going through to move product would be better served by lowering their base prices. Carsdirect.com shows a price of about $3000 under dealer invoice for a V8 with Package 3. When I bought the same setup on a 2005 model last July, my dealer took all of 2 minutes to accept my offer of $4500 under dealer invoice.

Thanks for the information. Are people are paying below invoice or below sticker? I've looked for incententives, but only found 0% interest. I'm trying to figure out how the dealers are selling below wholesale unless there are factory incentives to them.

My dealer started at 3200 off sticker, I'm looking for 44 off sticker. The 0% financing looks very attractive

The other plus for the 06 is you get the Nappa Leather and upgraded carpet with Package 3 and 4.

Try Carsdirect.com

In my zipcode....06470...the V8 Package 3 with the 19" wheels you mentioned is listed at $2700 under INVOICE, not sticker. ($48154)

While I haven't bought a car through Carsdirect, I have taken their pricing into dealers with me on the last 2 cars I've bought and paid their price. Of course the dealer's have claimed "those aren't real cars, you can't buy them for that price." Both times I said the same thing, "Forbes Magazine wouldn't rate them a Best of the Web if they couldn't deliver cars at the prices they say they can. If you won't match the price, no problem." Then stood up and started for the door. Worked both times.
Good luck.

I wasn't aware that the new V8 engine was out yet. I'll check on that.
