On the driver's side seat my wife says she raises the seat up 3 clicks and it stays up for her 30 minute comute to work. She says when she gets ready to come home that the seat is all the way back down and she has to raise it again. Is this normal or faulty hyrdos? In the New Beetle we had the seats that operate similar to these and they never went down after they were raised.

I have the same problem and it is mildly annoying. I have just gotten used to adjusting often. I'm not sure what mech is saying as the solution. I will play w/ it tomorrow.

I have my seat clicked all the way down... but I'm a big guy and don't like smacking my head on the roof entry area.... so I don't know if I have that problem with my seat.

My wife hasn't complained about it when she drives, but she hardly notices anything about cars

And i thot i was hallucinating!! I keep lifting the seat up and and it keeps going down after a while!! I'll get VW to have a look at it!!!!!!!!!! :anger:

Pay close attention when you get out of the car. Previous posters have said that they noticed their leg brushing the lever when they get out, causing the seat to go down.

Manual driver seat.. it's not just me!

:anger: Wow! I am not crazy after all; Whew!.. My drive seat does the same thing.. I will make the adjustment up and later I notice it's back down again... Interesting...

i got mine checked by VW OZ and was advised that theres was nothing wrong with the mechanism. The manager suggested that it could be caused by my leg while exiting, as people tend to slide out from the edge of the seat...

There is nothing wrong with the manual seat itself but the adjusting lever position is kind of awkward. Any mid to small size driver will depress it everytime he/she enters or exits the car making the seat go down a litle. That's the reason. I just got accoustumed to pull it twice everytime I get in. It's really bad engineering from VW.

HI EVERYONE THE PROBLEM WITHTHE SEATS GOING DOWN IS JUST A DESIGN SLIGHT FLAW WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING IS THAT SLIGHTLY LARGER PEOPLE ARE CATCHING THE HANDLE AS THEY GET OUT .WHICH IS ACTUALLY PROVEN .I WILL POST APEICE OF INFO WHICH MIGHT MAKE A LOT OF SENSE OF THE PROB .WATCH THIS SPACE

simple cure to stop seats going down is that you set the seat height to your desired .then move lever slightly down and use a piece of rubber or something on that line and wedge the handle .it will stop the handle getting caught when u get in and out .try it and let me know. \:D/

I have been 'jumping' out of the seat to exit the vehicle and my seat remains where I set it. If I try and get out nornally my thigh presses the lever down. BAD engineering from VW! And its a shame!
I'll have to take up your suggestion Mano and wedge something there or remove the handle altogether!
