Ok, I'm admitting it up front that I have no clue what the "s" stands for except that it means "sport" mode? When would I use that? Could I drive in that all the time (highway & city)? Is it only for offroad? Does it save better on gas?

Please enlighten me :confused2:

Sport mode will actually decrease your gas mileage, and is probably best suited when you are on back roads, as the engine is more responsive and allows for delayed upshifts, giving you more ooomph when you want it...

Probably not a good idea to even bother with the sport mode on the highway...

Sport mode dramatically changes the shift points in the transmission. It is designed for more aggressive driving.... like carving up twisty roads, hard accelerating -- basically use this when you are driving in more of a "performance" driving.

So if I live in the country with winding roads it would be ok to use "s" mode? It wouldn't hurt the engine though if I were to drive in it all the time? Not that I want too, just curious

Thanks for all of your help!!!!!!

The only thing driving is SPORT mode is likely to do is hurt your wallet - as you will be using more gas as you zoom around the countryside.

In Sport mode it acts as described above (later upshifts & earlier downshifts). Besides a bit more fuel, it won't shift into 6th gear (except when cruise control on which is an odd paradox). I drive two lane country roads to and from work, almost always in sport mode, except for longer straights where I want 6th gear.

I used to run only premium in normal mode but more and more I tend to run regular in sport mode. I'm probably kidding myself but I think cheaper regular gas price sort of balances out the higher fuel use. :joy: HTH

S mode will shift at a higher RPM than D.
most ppl tend to drive in S only when they want more power to pass people.
i drive in S all the time when i'm on the highway.... on local roads S gets kind of annoying because of the jerky downshift.

That's kinda screwy.
