I'm in Silver Spring.

We got snow last night, and the streets of Baltimore are somewhat clear, but not many. Took the Touareg out for a spin; streets are practically deserted except for the mail man delivering mail and parking attendants lurking about (Only God-knows why). Luckily, the coffee shop on the east side is open, so I'm sitting by the fireplace, relaxing.

The highlight of my snow experience this far was watching my neighbor dig her way out of her driveway for over an hour with a shovel so she could get her Hyundai Sonata out, while I simply jumped into my Reg and drove over the snow in low-gear. No shoveling necessary. I still can't stop smiling.

Enjoy the weather.

Oh, I don't have air-suspension, so I'm not plowing through anything above 8 inches without proper snow-tires. Can you imagine the embarrasment being stuck in a Touareg and needing to be rescued?

I did see another Touareg parked on the same street I parked on when I arrived at the coffee shop, so apparently we're thinking the same thoughts: Fun in snow. Mainly SUVs out here on the streets, BTW. Nay a rolling car in sight.

Why yes, I can imagine that situation and a very good member here who also happens to be a Mod had this happen to him in front of his house. That was bad enough, but his neighbor made a video of it and put it on YouTube. He has yet to live that one down..:evil_laugh:

His neighbor removed it from YouTube a while ago. We kept bring it up and I think he was getting upset by it.

20" deep in moco and I was turtling for a brief moment. Wasn't long before I was on my way. Still learning the capabilities of my treg but the more I drive it, the more I love it. Keep the snow coming. My previous car was an Audi A6, it too was a beast in foul weather.

That's great. Montgomery County can be rural in some areas. What tires are you running?

P scorpions. They are original equipment but I'm still deciding if I like them. They didn't fare to well on tire rack reviews. Any good recommendations?
I heard they wear too fast and are loud when once they reach half their tread life. Various members have raved about Toyo's, Coopers, and Michelin Lattitudes. Bizzak's seem to be in the top five with members for snow tires. Lots of threads on CT discussing tires. Just all depends on what your driving conditions are and what you want from your tires.

Just realized I never subscribed to this thread.....and if anyone is ever in the need I am willing to take anyone to the APG AotoCrafts so they can work on their Treg. It is a self service, full service DIY auto shop. They everything you need, except VCDS to work on any model vehicle......their link......Aberdeen Proving Ground MWR - Recreation - Automotive Crafts
