Hey there .. I'm Pete .. long time diesel fanatic. I've had quite a few diesel trucks. Currently have a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 QC diesel that is heavily modified. My daily driver is a 2002 VW Golf TDI that is just shy of 200 hp, 250 lb ft of torque and as of last Saturday we became owners of a 2009 VW Touareg V6 TDI. I absolutely love it. Can't wait to tinker with it. Although it is primarily going to be my wife's so I have to be reasonable. LOL

Welcome. These are awesome vehicles and there is a ton of info and knowledge on the site for you.

If you end up modding for more power, please do report your results and what it is you did. I'm still waiting for someone to impress me, and thus coax me into a V6 TDI.

This hasn't happened yet, but I'm staying optimistic.

Pictures or it didn't happen! :)

Let us know, if after the mods and chip tune, you blow up and grenade a High Pressure Fuel Pump, and what the bill is, cause that won't be covered under warranty.

Not yet. To many trips to the dealership to work out issues under warranty before doing anything that will void it. Been in for fixing issues about 10 times and still having issues. All electronic issues, like the head unit constantly freezing up and restarting, the tailgate trying to close when opening and the switch in it to detect something is in the way not writing and it trying to force itself shut, the wipers constantly stop working and the front and rear sensors always going off and being in the car. Still love how the Touareg drives but the electronics are driving me nuts!

As far as the wipers are concerned make sure you have the head unit pushed firmly in. There is a microswitch in the opening that if not in completely triggers the wipers not to work like the hood was open. What firmware is on on the head unit currently? Have they tried to update it at all?

They said they updated it after e first bright it in and said that would fix it. It's continued to do it. They even put a new unit in, or did a complete reset because we lost all our navigation points. Each time they say it's fixed, but not how they fixed it and a few days go by and it does it again. We have a new vw dealer opening in February so I've been waiting to take it somewhere new.

I've had issues with the local dealer for a while. On a recent trip back from New York City, we were running very low on AdBlue, it flashed 200 miles yet service wasn't for another 1000. So on the way out, we stopped at a Volkswagen of America and told them the situation and that I didn't want to run out before making it home, about 400 miles, so they brought out two big jugs, we had to unload the back of the Touareg (what a pain) took out the spare and they filled it up, and splashed it around making little white crystal stains in the back of the vehicle. Ugh. It was full to the top of the fill tube. They charged me $20 cash and I was on my way. I took it to the local dealer a couple weeks after for a scheduled service and told them about the trip and getting it filled, he must have forgotten because on my bill was $34 for AdBlue. I asked him about it, after telling him 1 hour prior it was just filled, and he said, oh yeah, it was just about empty, that's normal though, it goes right along with the service interval. I almost lost my mind. Haven't been back to them since. And they refused to adjust the bill.

Next time, you tell the service manager to not add the DEF, you just topped it off yourself. Put it in writing yourself. This is typical VW crap service and stealership 101 technique for fleecing you of your hard earned $$$ Or you tell them to give you $34 worth of DEF in the two 2.5 gallon bottles, for the next time you need to do it yourself.

FWIW, EVERY single TDI I've owned that's gone in for "free" service, they have spilled that DEF all over the place, leaving crystals. The technicians just don't "get it". 2012 passat tdi, 2012 Touareg, and 2013 Touareg. If you want something done, and done right, better get used to doing it yourself, when it comes to DEF.
