Hi There,

I just purchase a Silver Blue V6 with everything except Nav system. Hong Kong cannot use it yet. My last 4x4 is a LX470 but it drinks too much and I need to sell it. (US$1.62 per lit. here). I should say the LX470 is a very good SUV and I would wait and see how good the the Touareg.

I was also considering a X5 but my mechanic convinced me not to since he said that they are VERY prone to breakdowns when the reach 5yrs or so... I will be taking delivery tomorrow... Yippee...

I have relatives who live in Hong Kong --- even though I have not been there myself --- we hope to take a trip there in the next few years.

Hi from Hong Kong

Hi Guys,

I am too from HK and have just ordered a new Touareg. I used to drive a XC90 Sport but ever since I saw the new Touareg, I couldn't stop thinking about it and have decided to get one.

My question is the RCD550 stereo system which I have planned to connect with either an iPod or iPhone for songs. However, I have noticed that Chinese cannot be display, is there anything I can have the software updated or else to have this done?

Also, the car doesn't come with a mobile phone system, is it still possible to get one install?

Thankyou

Eric :D

Wondering if you got your questions replied? I am getting a Touareg with RCD550 as well and have exactly same concerns. Thanks.

After doing quite a bit of research, I notice it is almost impossible to upgrade to RNS850 system since it use optic fibre wire. Anyway, at last I found someone who can add module such as Nevigation, Bluetooth, DVD, etc. to the existing RCD550 system. Can let me know, I can forward the info to you.

The place is at Yau Tong, I had Nevigation system plus rear view camera installed, thinking of installing the DVD as well.

Can call them at 3188 0254, company name is "Navi".

I would save the money and install a Maisun. Since you know Chinese, you'll actually understand the instructions (if there are any) :) But you'll have reverse camera, BT, USB, SD, TV and Nav.

Thank you, Eric. Do you also have BT for phone install? Can I play music from iPhone as well? How much it costs you to in tall the Navigation system and cameras?

Do you mind sharing us few pictures with your new installed Navigation system?

Thank you very much.

When I installed the navigation system, the bluetooth module has not yet arrived. The shop call me few weeks ago saying that it is now available, I also wonder if it play mp3 via my iPhone too.

Hello from Hong Kong -

I have a Black 2011 V6 Touareg. I love the car but I am deeply and consistently disappointed with VW Service Centre in HKG. The Tsuen Wan Service Centre has consistently failed to meet with the most basic customer service expectations and have often come across as being a clueless bunch of amateurs. Their Manager and Supervisor keep apologizing for a basic lack of service and the apologies now are a useless and meaningless exercise.

I visited them today (Apr 21) as I needed to change my tail lamp (broken), bumper reflector and the lower bumper part. They have none of these spare parts in stock and have to order them from Singapore. The earliest these parts can arrive in HKG is Apr 24th. The lower bumper cannot be ordered in Black colour and hence needs to be painted once the part arrives in HKG. The time needed to fix these 3 spare parts is FOUR DAYS. I have faced bad service during the first three servicings when the car was brand new. My car clocked 41000kms and is in mint condition.

I am wondering if anyone else in HKG feels the same way or has been a victim of such poor VW After Sales Service and Customer Service? I am now on the lookout for a local garage and reliable mechanic that can service my car as I am really sick and tired of VW HKG. We pay top dollar to get the car serviced by VW but what you pay does not reflect the service we receive at all. Their service is shabby and poor.

People should be fully aware of such poor service levels well in advance before you buy a VW. I will NEVER buy another VW in HKG again. I have driven other European cars and their Service Centres in HKG do a much better job

I look forward to our fellow VW Touareg Members comments....specially those living in HKG.

Thanks guys.

Bevan

All the parts you need would probably have to be ordered in by any dealer anywhere.

Dealers only stock frequently used items to keep their inventory costs to a minimum.

The fact they have to be airfreighted from one island to another extends the delivery time.

Here in the UK for example, parts orders would normally take 24-48 hours, or 72-96 hours over a weekend.

If the parts had to come from Germany, they would probably take 3-7 days depending on when in the week you ordered them.
