So I have an 09 TDI with 20K on it. So far I have had 3 bulbs out, a failed adblue sensor (got all the way to can't restart warning without prior warnings), a faulty water pump, the alarm issue (new ECM module ordered thanks to club touareg TSB number thread), a bad stereo amplifier, and now got the "high oil pressure keep under 2500rpm" yesterday and again at shop (on my search on club touareg looks like this is from faulty oil pressure sensor). So. . . is this going to go on forever? I love the touareg but I can't keep doing this. Thinking of bailing and getting ML 320 CDI or X5 diesel. I mean once this puppy is out of warranty I am screwed right????

thanks for any advice!
Michael

Though absolutely annoying these are (alas) common in the 09 TDi.

1) Bulbs fail, but 3? Hmmmm wonder wassup with that...

2) Adblue sensor seems a common issue from the number of folks who have written about it.

3) Water pump was a manufacturing fault - still a pain but unlikely to recur

4) Alarm issue as you say a TSB was issued on that

5) Unusual about the amp but shouldn't recur

6) Again the oil pressure sensor has been written up here - reason I was asking if there's a way to display that on the MFD.

Most if not all of what you describe are very unlikely to happen again like for example the water pump as this was a manufacturing fault not an inherent design etc. flaw.

I would, unless you plan to do the work yourself get an extended warranty. As to changing to a MB or X5? No guarantee you won't find other issues with those.

I would also find out what your dealer is capable of. A lot of issues take an eternity to solve not because of the complexity but because the dealer hasn't got a clue. Find out what choices you have in your area and go to the best one.

I would get over this and reevaluate once the car is back running properly. If this continues you can either invoke the lemon law (don't know what state you're in and how that would play out) or just unload it and get what you want. But I'd give it a bit longer.

That is for you to determine. Plenty here with more miles on theirs and not any serious issues. I have experienced the water pump, but that had TSB issued and they are taking care of them. Sounds like you are still under warranty, get the newest thing fixed and enjoy it. You could get one of the other two vehicals and have problems with them as well. If you want to keep it get an extended warranty. It is a crap shoot with any car and none are perfect.

You can still get good money out of the TDI right now so timing is right...just don't expect perfection and nirvana out of the BMW or Benz, they aren't exactly perfectly reliable either...different badge, likely better service, but odds are results will be similar.

well thanks for the advise guys. I do love the car and to be honest would rather have it than the benz or BMW but just need to know that these electrical issues are going to stop at some point . . .

Hard to say since the 09-10 have been rather reliable given all the issues the first year Tregs had. Get this latest issue fixed and if you think you are gonna keep it for awhile after the factory warranty then look at possibly getting an extended warranty for it.

Sell it! I'll buy it off you for my wife! :) Since it's a lemon how's 20 k sound? :)

I'm sure once you work out your bugs you'll have many many years of trouble free operation. This reminds me of my 00 NB tdi which I bought, the previous owner had issue after issue, I bought it at 60,000 km, now i'm at 450,000 with no issues and only regular maintenance. Sometimes things fail, but especially underwarrenty it's all gravy.

-I dunno the waterpump things was on all VW/Audis built during early '09, so its a common 1 time issue..i can't say waterpumps have ever been a sore spot for VAG on any vehicle before..
-The alarm is also a common '09 issue, should be 1 time
-the adblue thing/oil pressure and the bulb burnout is something your dealer should figure out ASAP...

There are hardly any threads on here about any sort of consistent TDI problems and '09/10s seem to be generally reliable...a bit of bad luck and a ****ty dealer are probably the worst that's happening here.

BTW I'll up the bidding to 28K :) sorry guys...

Better it all fail now under warranty. And most of it was tsb's. I wouldn't worry.
