Just curious do you guys go by oil change for the treg every 10,000 miles or do you do change sooner? Also did you guys do the first oil change earlier?

Thanx for the input

Oh boy... here we go!!! This subject winds up with millions of responses with millions of opinions.

So... here's mine. Follow the owner's manual.

I do mine every 10k currently since it is dealer covered at this interval (until 36kmi). After the dealer coverage is over I will re-evaluate, but will likely stick with 10k (the manual specification for my Treg). Like TREGinginCO says, lots of opinions on this. Many go every 5kmi (some even get their dealer to cover that). I am a believer in SynOils, and feel they will out perform DinoOils. I also figure VW would not spec what they put in the manual if they did not feel they were well covered.

I did not do the 1st one until 10k. I have seen posts from others indicating they did it at 1.5kmi or earlier.

I have about 2kmi left before I hit my 2nd change at 20kmi. Running great...

I use the famous "GC" or German Castrol, Syntec 0W30 Made in Germany. I generally drive sedately, but now and then it's necessary to teach an X5-3.0 some manners. Most of my trips (to/from work) are 12 miles/20 minutes, not the best for the engine. The FSI V-8 is known to be hard on oil (Getting 350HP out of 256 CI will do that) so I was not surprised that 10K was a little too far. Oil numbers for 7500 look good so far (coming up on my 35K miles change, so far I've changed at 10K, 20K, and 27.5K). It's about time for brakes, too, ugh. Time to talk to Geoff.

I have been changing oil every 5K miles, on my Yukon, E320cdi and on my Tousreg TDI. I believe that is cheap insurance. I have never had any engine trouble in my almost 60 years of driving cars.

I did an oil change on the egg about 1.5 months ago, using my remaining Redline synthetic that I had lying around, that was primarily used for my turbocharged BMW. I only average about 15000km-20000km a year on the Touareg, so I won't be seeing an oil change again until well into the late fall-early winter.

I've done oil an analysis before on past Jetta TDI's using the dealer Castrol Syntec....money is not an issue. ;) BTW, on my previous 2002 Jetta TDI(gave to brother), the analysis at about 10000km, showed that the oil was right on target for the factory recommended interval of 16000km, which really did surprise quite frankly. Mind you, these engines are sleepers, with all that 1500-2700 rpm operating range.

One thing is for sure, I will send out the Redline to see how it held up in this type of V8 Audi non-fsi engine. Redline doesn't claim the extreme miliage intervals of Amsoil, but they do indicate extended intervals over your average other synthetic, so it will be interesting to see what the results are at 10000km. I do have a heavy foot also.
