I had Perzan Auto Radio (Upper Darby, PA) install Joyeauto in my 2013 Touareg. Love the Apple Carplay. It's wireless with my iPhone 12. The phone interface is not as good as the car's OEM, however you can change the preferred phone option. No more outdated maps from the OEM nav system. 😊

Who has purchased this unit and used it with the apple car play dongle that they also sell?9 inch touareg screen with Android

this model is for 2011 to 2017 with the rns850 head unit
+1 -- I'd be very interested as well.
Curious how well it supports the standard RNS850 functions (360 camera, AC, etc), if this has impact on the display between the RPM and speedometer, if it works with Dyna audio, etc.

Note: you can get it AliExpress much cheaper (almost half that price - link).

Just found this video on YouTube.

They said all car functions will work, including the camera, etc. They also guaranteed it. I ordered it and it comes Tuesday.

With the ones that are on aliexpress.com, I have zero faith in the reliability, and consistency of those working. I've read every post on the internet regarding those and while some say they had ok success using Android phones, the short story 8s you get what you pay for. Personally, I never choose the cheapest option, because it rarely works out.

This is for my wife's car, so I will do what it takes. If this doesn't work, I have a 2 week return, and 2 year warranty.

I'll post a video after the install.

Has anyone tried the Naviplus on their Touareg? A company out of Australia that sells units that plug into your existing wiring to make the RNS-850 work with Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

I'd love to be able to get it working on my car, but I am too chicken to go first. I emailed the seller and he responds almost immediately.. he provided me with some videos of it working as well as the installation instructions if anyone is interested.
I deff want to try it

I'm looking for an update from some folks that have had the Naviplus installed in their RNS850 setup. Any luck? Everything working out well? Follow-up question: Do you need to have the AUX port plugged into your phone for Android Auto/music to work through the car speakers? I ask because as I'm sure many folks have noticed, AUX ports on phones are pretty much non existent on new devices whether it be iPhone or Android. What this means is if you need to use the AUX port you'll have to have a splitter plugged into your phones port (my Pixel has a USB-C port) if you wish to charge the phone and aren't using wireless Android Auto and then another dongle to attach the AUX cord. The upgraded Android head unit I added to my 2011 Golf was simply plug into USB and it charged plus sound. The Naviplus website isn't super specific at their requirements, but it does mention using AUX for sound through speakers. Thanks!

I had the system from Germany installed. It works very well with both Apple and Android. There are no instructions for how to use it but a quick video chat with the people in Germany is all it took to understand what settings needed to be done to make the system work just how you need it to.
The only downside I found was that it needs 25 seconds to boot up once the car is started.

Thanks for that bit of info. I'll have to check in with them to see if in fact an AUX port on a phone is in fact needed. If it is, then it's not a system that makes much sense to purchase for myself. As for the delay in starting up, this is pretty much Touareg infotainment system lag already so that shouldn't be much of an issue! haha

This is the system that is sent from Germany. I have no experience with the other Chinese made systems. This system has all the factory volkswagen infotainment and vehicle settings accessible. It is an Android based system.

In order to get the system to have access to the speakers in the car for all sound...it connects using a cable that is plugged into the glovebox. All the other connections are plug and play into the factory connectors.

Right so that's not the Naviplus unit I originally inquired about. Got it.

That's very helpful. If you don't mind, one (or two) more questions:

1) Does it work with SiriusXM (or, more exactly, if the original head worked with SiriusXM, will this new replacement head do the same thing)? I like my subscription.

2) Will it work with the existing CD/DVD changer in the glove box? Or is that bypassed?

If you have serious you can use whatever app is used in the android system. Or you can just use the regular volkswagen radio and choose the Sirius xm.
Thanks. That's half of my questions answered! My question about the CD/DVD player remains (and, as far as I know, that's the only way to load up the internal hard drive with songs is to rip them directly from the glove box unit).

Your glove box unit is still accessible because you do not loose the volkswagen system. You would play them just like you do now.
Thanks (again). Now I've got it. It wasn't clear whether this bypassed the entire existing system or not. Sounds like its preserved and you add Android Auto in addition.

All I need to do is figure out how to get it shipped to the good ole' USA.

Unfortunately for us US folk we cannot order this German thing. This is a listing from eBay that does not specifically ship to us unless there's another one. I do believe we were also waiting for Jstnvndn to post videos of install?
