Thanks for the positive comments!!

hey i have the boards too, came with the treg , dont really like them they are functionless , there is no room to put your foot on, but the boss loves them , enough said , but they look good
Curious to know, why does she love them? I'm assuming that you meant the wife. ;).

I've got the exact same running boards, I'm not sure I like them, but not sure I dislike them enough to take them off...thought about switching to the OEM running boards (which look a lot like what the X5 has on it), but.....i dunno
If you are referring to those square angular ones, those I don't like at all(the looks), but functionally they make perfect sense. The newer X5 and other BMW's, with their Chris Bangle "flame surfacing," have a more angular look to them, than our convex shaped Egg, and thus I personally find that those particular styled side running boards look better on them. Interesting to note, that on the newer 2011 Touareg, with its more concave look, those tube style running boards wouldn't work nearly as well I don't think, and now that I think about it, not even sure what would?

Never hurts to try though if you really like them. Some things on initial thought don't add up, but when you put it in actual practice, it does!

Looks great, very classy, not overly done... I'm thinking of going up to 20's as well, what tires did you end up going with on yours? they fit with the car very well, just the right amount of side wall...
I went with the Yokohama Parada Spec-X, size 275/40/20. I really wanted 295/40/20, but my mags are a 9in. width not 10in. However I'm happier than I thought I'd be with the former size. The Air Suspension in Auto Mode does a nice job of evening the pavement out on our PATHETIC Montreal roads, better than I expected in fact! Sport Mode on the other hand, if you are using it, needs to be disengaged from time to time, especially this time of the year, when the roads are still in dire need of maintenance. That said, some guys go with 275/45/20 for some of the more obvious reasons, and call it a day.

Side Note: I do have one small complaint with the Yokohama Parada-X, and I will make mention of this in the running gear section if it continues. I will change the air pressures slightly and see what happens. To be continued elsewhere, pending results....

I will post up a final set of pics in the coming days, perhaps even weeks, right after I buff the Egg with some HD Cleanse, and remaining Zymol Concours that I have sitting in the fridge.

Not a fan of running boards but you most def have one of the best looking eggs. Its not over done and looks great. You just made me want to get the spoiler again.
I am flip flopping on the spoiler...I too have the running boards on my V10 and I am flip flopping on if I like those now as well!.

LOVE the wheels. Looks OEM in a good way.
I forgot to ask the both of you. Why were you both holding back on the spoiler to begin with? Surely it couldn't have been the $37 + painting/installation price? Therefore what was the initial phobia then? What was holding you back? Something about the stock stubbier look that perhaps attracts? :-k

That is one nice Touareg sorry for the late comment you can come over and polish mine anytime the tyre choice of 275's is good but I know how you wanted to go higher on the back ,but the rims make up for any shortfall, if there was any in the first place. yours Stew ps great finish nothing like hard work and a good shine to see it at it's best also could you send a picture of the 1987 alpina if thats ok, thanks

I love the spoiler on the cayenne and I'm on the fence about the treg spoiler depending on which one it is.

Hey, thanks for making me feel better about the 275's! If you lived closer, I would gladly have let you try out my over priced $100+ small jar of Concours wax.

BTW, thanks for the compliment on the finish, but the fact is that I HAVE NEVER waxed it, and it really needs one badly! I actually can't stop wondering, how great that picture would have looked where you see the sunset glare in the door, had it been buffed and then mirror polished. Brochure quality I say! Okay, I'm being too giddy here, but seeing that there is some good ol' empathy around here, you catch my drift.

So you want a picture of the Alpina eh? Well here is the story. I've never really taken many pics of it, and I won't bother to explain as to why here, because many of you will think I'm weird. The same thing would have applied on my Touareg, except that I seem to be softening up in my older age as of late.

So here is my one favourite one, and the one that I have posted on the net in the past. Yes, I discreetly go by the name bmwdude in the BMW world(not to be confused by other lesser "bmwdude" wannabees that you may encounter elsewhere on occassion. I am the original ;)).

Just so happens that as I write this I'm watching Classic Car Club on cable. They just reviewed the late '80s M3. Still like the look. They followed that with a bit on the Testarossa. Still looking for a buy on a 308 to get started.

Damn that alpina is nice...I still think the E30 is the best looking sports sedan EVER.

It pisses me off that there isn't any decent scenery around here to take a decent shot.

Anyways, I don't know why, but thought I'd post this up, since I slapped on some wax a few days ago, and actually liked what I saw for once(the paint not the scenery). Gotta love what one can do with Off-Road Grey and tricks of the light ;)

One thing that I would really like to do, is to take a snapshot of my EGG in the EXACT same spot as the picture that I posted almost one year ago in post #8(the one on the right in #8 ), and compare how the paint has transformed itself with the various paint cleaners and waxes that I have been using. Just to recap, the pictures of my Touareg in the beginning of this post are with NO wax, NEVER buffed. The ones to come as of now, will be.

Also, the pics in the past had no VW logo on the mags. These ones do.

car looks good!
Thanks man!

Nice! love the rims I was looking at the gunmetal finish!
Can't go wrong with gunmetal! I thought about it, but then decided on the brighter silver finish, figuring that it would compliment the chrome. Even if I did make a wrong choice say, you only need to slam on the brakes a few times and presto! The mags literally look like they were painted gunmetal I kid you not!!

Good point on the rims. Just had some dirt bag open their rear hatch and scratch & chip the paint on my front bumper. This is just the excuse I needed to get the rear spoiler. And I Love it on your Reg, your pictures convinced me!!

aaaaaaahhhh......

Before:

AFTER:

Mind you, I should of taken the before pics with covers on, or the after pics with covers off :drunk:.

This is the first time that I tried this product called CD2. Spay on, walk away! Dry to the touch, attracts no dust, and it "cures" and improves with engine heat.

The surrounding plastic near the windshield has not been detailed yet as one can see in the pic, as I purposefully wanted ("cough".. ) to dramatize the contrast of the engine, but I did so eventually with Vinylex to great effect!

Thanks Volkswagendude for posting pics of your Touareg's rear spoiler. I just installed mine this weekend. I'll have to wait on the gunmetal 20" Audi RS4 reps though. I just had to get a new roof and window$ for the hou$e so maybe next year. One day My Touareg will grow up to be like yours. Sorry for the bad pics.

^^^^^ Good job! The fit + finish on your installation looks better than mine :).

Can't wait to see your 20" inch gunmetal coloured Audi reps in a few months! Which manufacturer are you electing to go with?
