We have some feetback on this one from ebay.
The szenco one does not seems to specify it's designed for the egg, and
the one from smartauto24 says only 2007 and up.

But this been said the one from smartauto24 and e-bay seems to be the same product.

It's getting more interesting by the day. Anybody interested in a group buy? Seems like we have a bunch Canadians here interested.

I'm OFFICIALLY in for a group buy if it's this one VW TOUAREG GPS NAVIGATION 800x480 RNS510 USA CANADA MAP on eBay.ca (item 300381795353 end time 29-Mar-10 04:49:19 EDT) OILSLURPER has given me the confidence that I need that it will work for my 2005 DVD based Nav. I've never started a group buy before, so count me out to organize it unfortunately. I'll just offer my wallet. ;)

Today I just check the USB port, it only support 8G usb flash dirves. I buy the 16G usb flash drives, but it doesn't work, so I separate it to 2 partition (8G each), and hide one partition, now it work like SD card. But in menu, no USB option to choice, you can use " SRC " to pick after RADIO option.

I think I want one of these too for my V10. CD nav sucks ass.

I've sent maisun an email to see how much they want for 10 of them.

I just got an email back, its going to be roughly $500 per unit (I am getting the finalized shipping quote from them). It might end up being a couple bucks more or less depending on shipping costs to me, then how much to ship out to all you guys.

Order of events is as follows:
1.I will put the order in by this friday, and will have final pricing by tomorrow
2. If you want one I'll send you a paypal invoice
3. I need to do a wire transfer to Maisun (they are in China).
4. they ship and I'll share the DHL tracking info
5. Units arrive and I ship out.

Nick,

Are you making sure to include the antenna adapter and OEM radio removal tools and any other parts needed to make this plug and play?

Does it include a functional NA map or just a demo map and who's GPS program are they using? Also, they mention it supports TomTom mapping, how is that accomplished?

I am in for sure. For the record, this Maisun guy is he the seller from e-bay?

Be aware we might need to fork out some $$ for import charges as it is Chinese made. Last time they made me pay 15% for electronics from China.

Maisun is the source. ;) Maisun technology(HK) Limited
That is why NickM emailed them for a group buy. Anybody else, would be considered the middleman, and that includes any ebay seller.

I for one like the szenco unit better, it has a bigger screen (6.95" vs 6.2"), they say both SD slots support SDHC vs only the GPS one from Maisun, better price, would become probably even better with a group buy??
On the con side, it has no ipod input (which I don't care but others might), fewer dedicated function buttons and no Club Touareg member installed one as of yet.
Maybe it worth a try to inquire for a group buy?
But if the others want the Maisun unit, I'm in for one.

Thx

Pardon my lack of, but what would no iPod input entail?
The whole point of me wanting to ditch my MFD2 DVD based Navi, is so that I could use my iPhone 3G where bluetooth technology is concerned, and be able to see artist/song on the display when playing music, without having to pick up the phone while I'm driving, or having to twist my head too far to make observations. One word, ergonomics.

If we all end up deciding that this model is the way to go(I'll pay a bit more for a model that will keep me happiest), I'm in. I personally feel better about this one, since it was already done by OILSLURPER and I do believe boygirlca, and it looks very OEM. As someone mentioned before, we will need two additional parts to make this hassle free. The optional TWIN FAKRA antenna adapter to maintain AM/FM reception (item 300378516724 on ebay), and 4XOEM Removal Keys.

Oh yes, and double check that what we are getting has the red illumination by default. Ya, I know that the Touareg model Model No: MT6509 on the Maisun website shows red in the picture, but I'm one paranoid mofo.

I guess you are talking about this one? Personally like the looks of the other one better. Also the fact it is installed already makes me feel nice and fuzzie.

I followed up the thread to here from "volkswagendude"......if you need to clarify, please go to the Aust/NZ forum and follow my thread through...that way, you'll have enough info/pics to be sure what you want is what you get.

Nick,

Are you going to put one in the 2004 or the 2007? I will be very curious to see if you can get it working in the 2004 V10 which I assume has the standard OEM CD nav.

I'm going to try and install it in the '04. and yes it has the factory CD nav. If for whatever reason it doesn't work I'll just stick it in the '07 and take the DVD nav out of the '07 do the CD to DVD nav conversion in the '04 (hope this all makes sense)....

The $500 figure I've mention would include importing it & other fees, so that price would be shipped to your door anywhere in the US or Canada...again this would be + or - a few dollars since I need to know final number purchased to figure out what price point we are at. Some would pay a few dollars less than others (ie: since 92c2targe#119 lives in the same town as me we'd likely just meet for coffee instead of me shipping it out..saving $20 bucks or so...).
