It's just about change for me. I have always selected vehicles based on the engineering. This is what drew me to the V10 ten years ago. I never try and rationalize motor car decisions based on economics, I just say it is about what I pay for my enjoyment .

I relly hope though that this is a good vehicle and the amortized cost is not to bad. I intend to be around on the board until I get bored.

Look forward to the feedback Bails. That's the one I didn't buy on my final two. The feedback I've had from quite a few now is the later model RRS are very reliable. Now take it out to the Simpson for a test run, that was my plan, but took the Treg out instead. Two great cars... this is the one I test drove for a few hours. Cheers Paul.

WA Review: Range Rover Sport SVR | CarAdvice
Well ended with the SVD8 HSE with a few extras. What was good fortune was the car was just turning up at port so I will have a 16 complied car which when it comes to selling makes a difference. The issue with RRS is you just about have to specify all the things that are standard on the Treg, I could not justify the spend and I did not want to wait,my thinking was I'd get a better deal with a dealer stock car.
What I do get though is low range , full size spare , LSD and locking diffs, and the dynamic handling package which really makes the things seem like they are on rails in the twisties.
It was a drive in the country a few weeks back that got me really interested the handling was superb and the damping even had my wife noticing the difference. I do hope thopugh that the car is as reliable as my R50 has been.
What I do know is the multi media pretty much sucks , but the sound with the premium system is good , 10 CD's is the limit for storage pretty poor IMO. No active cruise on my car, would have liked but beggars cannot be choosers , no TPMS either .
One thing I do know is when you have a great vehicle like the R50 you continue to enjoy year after year, I hope this is my RRS experience.
The RRS board is pretty dead though , and there does not seem to be the same level of technical interest , early days perhaps. The complaints on the RRS sport board seem to be more about the cosmetics rather than the functional things.

Forums for new cars tend to be like that. Not much goes wrong with them and they're still too new to modify.

Fortunately, the early Touaregs are now ending up in 2nd and 3rd owners hands (like myself) or being relegated to extra car status. That allows people to modify them more. And of course, as things get old, they break and need repair.

That was smart to get the one with low range. It's kind of like ABS. It's always nice to know it's there.

I did note like the first years of Tregs the RRS had issues. I was never going to get and early production model.

I'm certain it performs well on and offroad, haven't heard of major issues. Would be interesting how it is for daily drives, vw have done well to make touareg feels very light and nimble.
When i was close to buying one i got informed no snorkel for RRS either so made the decision easier.
When you have travelled thousands of kms to checkout an awesome part of Australia you dont want to turn around coz of a metre of water

I note rrs has 278mm clearance compared to 300mm of the touareg, LR should take note and keep leading, its their heritage. The v8 rrs even with 4.4 pot records 6.9secs to 100, compare this to 7.1 ? of v6 touareg and 5.8 Rline. Will await real life use and test both and when finally its off road, thats what matters.

0 to 100 is slower than the R50, this I knew. I also have a car that does it in 5.2 and a motorbike that is even faster, 0 to 100 times was not part of my criteria though. RRS ground clearance is 11.2 inches and wading depth is 33.5 inches so ground clearance is less but wading is more , neither will come into play too much.
What I really liked was the road handling , IMO much better than the Treg and the suspension setup was superb .
All in all it was about a different experience, I did not go for the pretty colors just found a car that was specked well enough for me to live with. I most likely will not know how good or bad an investment this vehicle is until I try and sell it . Most of my off road will be gravel roads , one would be mad to do serious off roading in any high end SUV this car will get me to the farm gate in most conditions , and up the slippery forest roads that's my real world requirements.

Bails all the best with the RRS.
My personal thought is that the RRS sport is one nice looking vehicle and Land Rover has lifted their game over the pass few years.
I was looking at a Discovery Sport last year to replace my Touareg but availability of model and specs was a long wait, that's good you were able to get one meeting your needs so quickly.
Will look forward to the review of the RRS vs R50 vs SQ5.

Flipper I really like the Disco 4 but it is going to run out soon so buying now will mean new model depreciation and I suspect if the new model is very good new model envy. Also I could not buy the first version of the Disco 5 so a few yrs wait. The disco sport is a very nice size, but I would like it with a V6 diesel and like you the options list and specs seemed a way off for what I would require. I also thought of going the 4 door ute , like the Ford Ranger , Amorak , but decided I'd miss the smoothness of a Vehicle like the R50.
All in all the great thing is we have choices, the choices get very hard because the Treg is such a well built versatile vehicle

Really interesting what you found with the RRS Bails.... people look for different things and priorities with their cars. But like you I found the ride, handling and suspension in the RRS absolutely perfect, 10 out of 10, yet the multimedia system was really lacking for today (it was 2 things that stood out for me too). And we all haven't different needs... and whilst mine is not serious off-roading (I categorise that as taking your vehicle to its limits thru bog holes and other unnecessary challenges that can result in damage to your vehicle, which I have no interest in), I did buy my 4XMotion so I could enjoy much much more of Australia and I thoroughly enjoyed travelling up thru the Flinders, Innamincka, Cordillo Downs Road and the couple of hundred kms into the Simpson in luxury and comfort. That to me ticked all the boxes on my decision... although 95% of the time it is our daily drive on bitumen.

Beautiful looking vehicle you have purchased Bails and have no doubt you will really love driving and travelling in it - who wouldn't, congrats! Cheers Paul.

Some of the options are pretty cool and useful in the RRS-wading depth visual, how it drops down and up for entry exit, HU display, etc etc

Wading Depth is an option I believe , I do have Heads Up and the entry exit stuff.
Here I am in the Simpson ? Not really but it is the Simpson and it is a RRS.

Singh I just noted that the RRS has ground clearance of 328 in emergency height mode , don't know if this how the Treg Ground clearance is measured , not an issue but interesting find.

That's awesome Bails, i looked up specs for AU on the local website where it states 278mm, see this...

I was confused with rline specs too so put it side by side with v10 in xtra height and it measures up
