If they want to help the Touareg community they still need to step up to the plate with extended AdBlue system warentees.
VW won't cover the AdBlue failure (until that scandle blows up in VW's face and they get some more USA national news embarrassment).

Oh, and while we are still pointing out your mistakes VW... Logically the price of gas models should have dropped very little to none. Agree?
Well then VW, why not include ALL VW's in your price protection program? It would have been a gesture that said VW stood behind ALL VW owners/products, simultaneously costing the company almost nothing.
VW... still missing the obvious. :(

Kill joy ;)

I'm keep hope alive...or buying someone else's ;)

And more than a lot has happened since that article was written in March.
Yeah. Hackenberg is Out the Door.

The news comes from industry trade journal Automotive News Europe (subscription required), which confirmed the story with Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi's product development head.

VW Diesel Gate: Audi's Ulrich Hackenberg and Porsche's Wolfgang Hatz to Quit - GTspirit

The head of Audi‘s research and development program, Ulrich Hackenberg, as well as Porsche‘s research and development chief Wolfgang Hatz, are both set to quit as the diesel gate rocking the Volkswagon Group continues.

Perhaps this story could cheer you up?

Is it more difficult to do a diesel-hybrid compared to gas? I'm just thinking of how a gas engine can turn combustion on and off almost instantaneously, making it seamless. On a diesel-electric hybrid how do you instantly resume combustion if the vehicle has been running on electric long enough for the diesel to cool to the point where glow-plug assist is needed to get it going again in cold weather?

I admit I haven't researched this at all so I could be very ignorant. ;)

Reactions: Oregon TDI
Agreed. Everything is being reviewed now and if Chattanooga were thought to be a mistake, now would be when they opt to get out.

I have a pet theory that the best-built new cars roll off the assembly line when everyone involved is fearful of their employment being abruptly ended.

Me either, but they sure seem to work well on the track ;)

An R8 is on my shopping list . . .

So, I can help quantify just what this fiasco means to a typical 2.0L TDI owner. A '15 Golf SEL TDI with 4K miles that had an MSRP north of $30K six months ago is worth $22K in trade toward a '16 TSI.

Why would someone want to trade in a 2015 Golf TDI?

Drive more, worry less....

20% first year depreciation is average. You will always lose on a one year old car trade in. You paid retail, they pay wholesale. Are you really surprised by this?

As a very frequent buyer and seller of new and slightly-used VWs I can say this is possibly the worst hit I've ever seen. It's a good 10% down from where it would have been pre-scandal. Not to mention the mythology of used TDIs having higher resale values in general.

The "Why" is the owner (family member who bought a TDI based on my recommendation) has made recent life changes that translate into only very short trips. Possibly not suitable to a TDI.

Now I remember, I hope she likes the 2016 TSI.

Agree. Take away any additional depreciation from dieselgate and you still will lose. Always. That said, sometimes circumstances force you take the hit. Then you move on.

She decided to wait it out. Too much uncertainty right now over the TDI's value. We don't know what VW is going to do for TDI owners. And she loves the car.

Meanwhile maybe I'll offer to take her TDI on a long highway drive once a week or so. I like the car too.

It's all good! ;)

Loves the car? No issue then! Cool...me too. Bought my TDI 2 weeks before scandal..great car and love it too so no worries.
