Howdy folks... I've just registered to the forum after having put an order for a My16 Touareg over this past weekend. Looking forward to learning more about the cars from the peeps on here and sharing what I find!
I'll post pics of the car once I have it of course...should be only a week away!

BTW, I've just moved to Brissy last week for work. Hence needing a new car after selling my last one in Melbourne before flying over.

Welcome and all the best!
Which one are you buying v6 or v8?

Welcome Padros.

Looking forward to hearing of your experience with the MY16.

To tell you the truth I'm kinda feeling nervous now after the weekends news! So far Touaregs haven't been listed as one of the cars in the scandal but the overall company is going to be hit pretty darn hard!

Yup, the value of your nice shiney new Touareg has just fallen off a cliff . . .

Anyone on a fixed term contract hire deal will be laughing their socks off now.

I think any VW dealer trying to make a deposit stick would be on a hiding to nothing at the moment.

There has been a highly illegal and profoundly material change in the supplying company.

Can you convert to a lease/contract hire deal so you can walk away regardless in, say, 3 years?

Or do you have what we call a PCP deal where you can either walk away or buy the car for a pre-determined price if it's value at the end of the contract exceeds that pre-determined price?

There's one UK 2016 model buyer who has already bailed out. He's keeping his 9 year old T1!

There's another who is sitting on the fence.

Both of their new cars have just landed in the UK

In your case, I'd be bailing out too.

Yeah I'm on the fence since I like the car and went through an exhaustive process to decide on it. What I don't like however their actions and the risk of my investment sinking like a lead balloon. Here the Touareg's rank at the top of their class for holding value but who knows how big the consumer backlash might be. As big as the scandal is, its not getting much airtime with the news stations here. Hmmmmmmm

Who were the guys who bailed out...where's the thread where they discussed this?

Go ahead, enjoy the ride. It will be quite different in 3-5yrs time.
Appears its more than vw in this quagmire, many other manufacturers have been doing the same

that would be you right ????

So I cancelled my order on Friday and bought a new ML instead. Would you believe I was trying to speak to someone from VW Australia since Monday last week and after multiple promises of a return call I got nothing so on Wed I sent them an e-mail inquiry to which I only got a generic "we have received your request and will get back to you" e-mail last night! That's 5 days later.
VW royally effed up their customer service here. If they had bothered talking to me to assure me that my almost 6 figure investment wasn't going to fall through the floor with what is going on, they may have just saved me as a customer. The fact that they didn't bother getting back to me once for over a week shows that they are well behind with their customer service when compared to other companies. Really sucks as I loved the Touareg...

I guess no need to stay on this forum either so I'll say bye after my short stay.

Pete

Shame about the experience of Padros. I must say that with all the grief I had with my 2015 Touareg, the biggest frustration was VW Customer Assistance. You get told they will call back, but never do. I made at least a dozen calls to their toll free number before I got a reply.
VW Australia demonstrates the most frustrating, poor business practices and absolutely hopeless customer focus - worst I have ever experienced.
On the bright side, they did send me a Satisfaction Survey when my Touareg was finally back on the road - it took better than 4 months at the dealership awaiting VW Australia's progressive response to the problem...And yes the completed survey was scathing and to this day I have had no follow up from them regarding my response. Should I expect better performance??
I seriously doubt I would purchase another VW product, even though the Touareg is, in my humble opinion a great vehicle, but who would go through such a negative experience again if another fault occurred.
VW did extend my warranty to 5 years, which did require considerable nagging on my part. We have come to the conclusion that should there be any further problems we will be getting rid of the Touareg immediately. At this point in time, it is going well....Thank goodness.
