Can you post some photos of your mirror inserts working pls?

Yeah I'll get get some pics of the mirrors for you! Where were you last year when my suspension indicator stopped working lol.... it is so odd because just randomly, well after i removed the cluster to install the CAN wires, now it's working again. I haven't seen my suspension indicator level for months! That's awesome, i'll definitely schedule an appointment to get it done next week. You are awesome!

No fault code found.

Give me a few mins and I'll run out and take some pics. The great thing is the ACC and the Side Assist have options in the menu such as ACC will now allow you to default settings 1-5 for the space from the vehicle where before it would just always be on 5 and I would have to make it closer to the other car. The LED indicators in the mirror have a 1-5 also, 1 being dim and 5 being bright. The LED's adjust with the night time and sunny days via the rain sensor in the windshield. I drove home from work at 3am and they were not super bright, pretty much the same intesity as during the day. We are going on holiday this saturday and sunday so i'm excited to see how it acts on the freeway.

It doesn't activate until 65km/h it seems, then once it is active, it deactivates if you go below 55km/h. Like i said though I love it so far. Definitely wish I had the feature longer. It's worth doing the install for sure! I even have an extra master radar unit coming because I hate waiting and waiting for stuff so figured in case the 2nd one was defective i'll have another lol. I'll just keep this as a spare probably.

Pics.

No problem Stuart! Headed to dealer Wednesday to get my cluster sw updated. Of course it stopped showing air level yesterday lol.

Great job! One cool feature of note on this is that the lights are just about invisible to everyone else in the car except for the driver - not completely invisible, but almost. And while I don't know for sure, I suspect they're invisible to other drivers on the road as well.

May seem like a dumb question, but I am assuming brake lights switch on when ACC detects a slower vehicle and starts braking automatically!?
I have had a situation recently when the car ahead braked hard ...ACC kicked in and slowed my Treg as well but was not sure how the cars behind me see brake lights!

Interesting to note side assist lights adjust with the light sensors - will check them on mine soon.

Yeah ACC activates lights behind just like ur hitting the brakes yourself. It's connected through the Canbus system so the computer handles it.

Start ordering tomorrow...Won't be long and your car will have an (almost identical) twin again.

Ok so my battery dies the other day and while it was disconnected I decided to go ahead and add the new module for steering wheel and the new indicator stalk as well.columbustouareg I now know why you had mentioned to mark the steering wheel... long story short I ended up putting on and removing the steering wheel about 3 times! I also had a minor parking lot accident ( someone backed into me and did not leave a note) and the car is now in the shop for repairs, I'm having the shop paint the new mirrors while it is in there, one question I'm curious about is it appears these new mirrors have antidazzle feature and folding feature which my previous ones did not, do you know what is required to make those features work? Modules, wiring, etc... thabks in advance!

My car was pre wired for tinting mirror on right side. Before mine only had driver side and mine already folded. I can look and see what extra wiring it is but mine was part of the huge main wire harness. Thankfully mine was plug play.

Ya Columbus touareg if you wouldn't mind checking, if it's not too much trouble. I would like to have those features as ling as they wouldn't be too much work to get them up and running...

Amendment to Side Assist Shopping List

I have just found out that the LED Indicator Panel Inserts for the Mirror Heads are not the same for Left-hand Drive and Right-hand Drive vehicle. Apparently the illumination levels are set so the driver sees the same light intensity from both mirrors, therefore the closer mirror has a lower light output. As a result they have different part numbers depending upon the seating location of the driver..

Left hand Drive Part Numbers

4L1 949 145 (Warning indicator - left)
4L1 949 146 (Warning indicator - right)

Right hand Drive Part Numbers

4L2 949 145 (Warning indicator - left)
4L2 949 146 (Warning indicator - right)

Just when you think you know everything about anything to do with this car, it comes out and surprises you... Imagine tuning the light levels to account for an asymmetric viewing distance... :-k

Stuart...

All parts for Lane (side) Assist have now arrived, let the fun begin.... at least let me look at it and do some planning ( beer ).
