Hi guys, new to the forums

My mom just purchased an 08 white/black vr6...I love it so much, I have to either steal it from her or buy myself one...

I've found a white/black vr6 lux and technologie

but the dealership also offered if I wanted anything different, they'd have to order one, and it would be an 09

do the 09's have the new nav touchscreen? or does the 08 already have it too? I'm talkin about the one that comes in the new tiguan

Also, my mom's seems to have a diff lock but I dont see it on the window sticker as an additional option. do they come with a basic one and you can upgrade to a better one?

thanks

1. I believe the '09 Nav system is the new RNS 510 touchscreen as seen in the Tiguan. This is assuming you're in the US, as I believe the rest of the world already has the RNS 510.

2. All Touaregs have the center diff lock as standard, as well as "simulated diff locking" by braking the spinning wheels in the open front and rear diffs. You can optionally get a rear diff lock as well.

oo, got it

thanks for clearin that up for me :)

So i'm sure the RNS 510 will be able to be retrofitted into the 08

but thats another day...and a lot more dollars

Don't forget the 09 will have the V6 TDI too!

If you can stand to wait, that V6 TDI should be sweet. I'm struggling with the waiting thing myself. Some don't like hastling with diesel. But, as an ole's farm boy, I'm looking forward to it and some Bio-D along the way too. Of course, the dramatically improved mileage is a big factor too! :)

regardless, enjoy whatever you do,
Garth

Real world figures are:

Highway 7.5 litres per 100km at 100 to 110 km/h light load.

City 10.5 litres per 100km warm engine start stop traffic.

Sorry but does America use imperial gallons or liquid gallons to calculate your MPG? You really need to join the 21 st century and go metric. :D

liquid

we're workin on it...the last 20 years, lol

its about 10.5=~22mpg - 7.5=~31mpg

schweet!

Here's a great conversion calculator for the 3 fuel economy figures we see on the board (MPImperialG, MPU.S.G, l/100kms)

Unit Conversions

Fred's TDI page is also IMHO the best resource on the web for TDI related info.

7.5l/100kms hwy is spectacular for a vehicle this large..I'm getting 4.9~5 l/100kms hwy in the Jetta TDI, 14 l/100 in the TREG (ouch!)
