Im looking for some recommendations on a exhaust system for my 04 V8 Touareg. I would like to keep it looking clean, as much to stock as possible. The biggest thing is to use the same tips and keep their same placement. As for sound I dont want anything obnoxtiosly loud. Thank You.

Nefarious has a custom Magnaflow setup on his V8 that I personally think sounds great. I believe he said it was under $500 from an exhaust shop, but don't quote me on that one.

You're going to paint it?...don't do it dude, a really good exhaust cost serious money for a reason. If you want an exhaust you should be buying a Supersprint full titanium system, you need the headers and everything... They are $8 grand but if you don't pay that you might as well just throw your money away....there's a reason supersprint is serious money, junk exhaust for 1 or 3 grand are just that, junk.
You can get the regular stainless supersprint for around $5 grand installed, but I would get them to make me a titanium one.

geeze i didnt this many replies on my thread about exhaust! haha. but i listen to to that Magnaflow Exhaust from the classifieds and that sounds awesome for only 500 bones. thats the kinda price i could live with. I wonder never pay 8g's for a freaking exhuast! for that price it better make me breakfast, ya know? ive heard some awesome sounding exhaust on the treg but never knew what they were using.

i go into their website (magna flow exhaust) and they don't even have vw touareg in their listings.....i would like to know where i can purchase them for a fair price....cat back maybe even eliminating the secondary cats for a much throatier ROAR!....any suggestions?
I used twin manga mufflers on my treg (they were oval 14x9 I believe - I'd have to look it up). With just the mufflers installed, I could notice a much deeper tone, but that was only outside the cabin and overall inaudible. However once the second cats got cut out - holy cow - what a difference. Definitely not for the light hearted.
If I could go back, I would have had the second cats cut out first before replacing the muffler and see how that sounds - might even be decent.
Then go on and switch out mufflers (might have gone with one size bigger than what's on now).
If that's too loud, you could try a resonator where the second set of cats was located.
In any case, the second set has to go!! Look through my posts, I have a vid of the exhausts linked somewhere.

I have two round, resonator/muffler straight through Magnaflow's sitting in my garage, that I had once upon a time planned on using(install them side by side parallel style), to replace my one big chambered muffler on the BMW Turbo. The idea was so that I could get some more "flame action" happening to any would be followers :twisted:. But things have changed since then, so now I'm contemplating, if and when my secondary cats ever need replacing on the Touareg, to use those two, round, straight through Magnaflows to replace the secondary cats.
Curious how that will sound, with the OEM rear muffler?
