it's funny when you're at work, read something online, laugh out loud, and the people walking down the hall outside your door all look at you like you're wierd. If they only knew...

I'll be sure to watch out for the swift shovel. I need to bring my hardhat and shovel repellant... :D

Mrs. TREGinginCO and I picked up the VWoA 2008 facelifted TOUAREG with the V8FSI tonight....mmmm good. We affectionately call it T-2 (obvious reasons). The Poser T's name has officially been changed to T-3.
:giggle:

You'll get a good look and feel for it -- but after initial impressions... VW continues to do a very nice job with this thing. The new MFD (says it on the dash) is very nice.

See y'all in the hills!!!

Beaconing Position during Rally

Greetings from Ouray,

Having a wonderful time... Monday was Corkscrew - Hurricane - California - Animas Forks - Cinnamon - American Basin - then back to Animas and a big splash finale for the day before heading back via Silverton. Big thanks to everyone organizing the event!

I am beaconing locations using Ham Radio's Automatic Position and Reporting System (APRS), essentially GPS locations sent via Packet through digital repeaters and eventually to the Internet. Coverage is very spotty out here because there are not many digipeaters / I-Gates in the region. I may extend the number of 'hops' to see if that helps. When a beacon is transmitted successfully, you can see where we may be in near realtime. Here are some links to locate my beacon KF6VOM this week.

Looks like location-tracking will be a peak-to-peak sorta thing. Not many digipeaters out here, so it will take a high location to get a signal heard. Yesterday we were at Governors Basin and Yankee-Boy, both areas inside canyons.

Rolled into the driveway at 5 PM yesterday...11 hours flat from Ouray. Had to dodge two deer, and two rock slides (one left over from Friday) early on Red Mountain Pass, a matress in Albuquerque, plus a 18 wheeler shredding a recap on I-40.

Many thanks to Chris, RJ, and all the others on a fantastic Rally. Also, thanks to Jason and Matt for clipping my fog light shroud back into place . I guess the stream crossings did it in. We missed Terry, Gerry, and Eric from previous rallies and the others who could not make it. Andy, thanks from coming up to American Basin and seeing us. Also, good luck on your impending move to central Colo.

Jason, the damn airbag fault re-appeared Friday afternoon. We will let VW deal with it. Thanks for looking at it and clearing it initially.

Today, I will clean up the Treg (hours) and bale the yard.

Thanks to all and we hope all get home safely after an outstanding Rally

Rick

More pics can be found here

Mind you this is only 1/8th of the pics I took.

For those that attended: if you would like a copy of EVERY pic I took I will be uploading a .zip file to chris' site once I get the info from him. If you would like to download that zip file then just log in via FTP (once he sends you the login info) and download it
