I grinded down about an 1/8 inch of material which was suggested by my VW dealership to make the proper clearance for these rims. This gives the proper offset of 45. Any questions.
I doubt anyone here will buy them... I mean, you honestly think that someone will grind their brakes (!!!!) to fit a wheel. Theres plenty 5/130 wheels that fit witout these sick modifications. Plus, (its like that in the EU, dont know if in US) if you crash the car and the insurance guy will see that you "modified" the brakes in such way he will smile, blame it on those brakes and you wont get any money.camiam72 said:Some modifications will need to be done to the front calipers. Tire Rack lists 32 different wheels for the Touareg, some in multiple sizes. There are probably 3 to 4 times that many that Tire Rack doesn't sell but are available elsewhere. And you can use Cayenne or Q7 wheels.camiam72 said:There are very few nice looking rims that fit the Touareg. Good luck finding them. My VW dealership has a excellent reputation and would not have advised me to do a small modification if it would endanger the warranty our my safety. So say what you want but I know otherwise. Thank's for all your support. And furthermore I've had my Treg for four years with this mod and never had a problem.
So ... you bought your Touareg on or before July of 2003?camiam72 said:And furthermore I've had my Treg for four years with this mod and never had a problem.

Silly VW, putting so much excess material on calipers for no good reason

YOU should learn a thing or two about vehicles, you just cant mess around with brakes and all, either you buy a wheel that fits or no wheel at all. Sometimes when i go shopping I see some nice shoes but they are too small - does this mean I have to grind away all the useless toes to be able to fit them? - no :chew:camiam72 said:I'm done wasting my time. EVERYONE must learn a thing are two about there vehicles and not all mods are by the books. That is the beauty of car ownership.![]()
