I literally just got my bulbs in from Alretta today, dealer quoted me $420 for two D1S bulbs... payed $176.99 for the pair from Alretta including shipping and tax

Just installed them and they work great

In my opinion it would be a mistake to order from anyone else

haha look how I spelled "paid" above...
I do it all the time

You can enable your devices spell checker on, or be like me, and keep it off. Who's judging anyways? =;

I'll give you three choices where to buy your bulbs from, depending on your needs of kind of bulb, OEM, Modded, or just something not sold in this market.

Powerbulbs, Geoff, or Candlepower.

Geoff for OEM(good pricing), Powerbulbs for a different flavour(but it costs), and Candlepower for the H7 Osram Rallye bulbs

You should think about replacing them in pairs, bulbs with different # of hours on them will have a slightly different color...performance wise you won't see the diff, but something to consider if bulb color aesthetics stress you out :)

Received bulbs in about 3 days.

Got around to install today.

The year old one vs: new bulb look similar hue/brightness

I got the 6000K Brightness as they suggest.

Good product (so far!) and good company.

Out of curiosity, why did you choose(or they recommend) the 6000K colour spectrum? Certainly less lumens than 4300K.

Don't get me wrong in my questioning, I'm only curious. I've got 6000K on my EGG myself, but it was merely for looks and just to add some different flavouring to what can be a monotonous daily grind. My Passat on the other hand I have kept the 4300K on purpose.

Iwwas simply trying to get operational a bad bulb on my Wife's Touareg. I arrived at 6000K via the website I bought from. I'm a Mechanical Design Engineer with no education, knoweldge or experience of what these values mean. EleventySevenK and what all...ok! If they say so.

It appeared to match the one VW installed last year.
Hopefully we get some lifespan out of it.

By the way....I;m about to get a CC. How do you laike that PASSAT?

Honestly, at first I loved it, then the novelty wore off, mostly due in part that the rear seat having absolutely no rear head room at all for my 6 foot four frame. Other than that, I think it has a beautiful interior, especially with that two tone leather. The 4 motion VR6 is a jewel to drive.

Have you checked out the new upcoming Jetta coupe that is coming out soon? It looks like a Passat CC, but stylistically(the exterior) looks even better imho.

Do you often drive from the rear seat of your PASSAT?

Hehehehe!

I'm leaning toward the black interior for a white CC. That 2 tone is growing on me though...but...to keep that light stuff clean! (4yr old and 8yr old in tow often)

Damn, you're right I don't. Never in fact

Interesting though, speaking of rear head room, and legroom for that matter, my brother bought a new 2010 Golf VI TDI and we were comparing it to my older 2005 B5.5 Passat TDI. I mean two different cars size wise, but here is the kicker. The Golf would accommodate my height better than my Passat! Mostly due to the head room increase. Both front and rear! My head had some space left in the rear sitting as upright as I could. Leg room was almost the same as the Passat in the rear, slightly less in the Golf but barely noticeable. Front legroom in the Gof with seat all the way back is ridiculous, you can't even reach the pedals. VW has done a marvelous job of maximizing space on the new models. That said, the CC is not to bad at all on headroom, when one considers its low roof line, I mean IT IS LOW! Thought I'd mention, that the CC with no sunroof(we have those in Canada slightly stripped out, with 6 speed manual, 2-tone leatherette and 2.0T ) has a tad more headroom than the sunroof version. I compared both back to back, as I almost caved in and bought one myself when it first came out.

Ya, you're choice of white on the outside and black on the inside will look sexy. One last thing about this cars that I really like, is that I find they were made for some nice large mags ;). That changes the whole look on them from ho hum sleek to WOW!

I'm liking the CC a lot lately, two tone is sexy...the light interior doesn't stress me out as the beige on my '07 has stayed clean despite the 2 year old child and the mutt working hard at making a mess of it. I'm thinking of trading the '07 Treg in on a CC....good looking car, drives really nice, its relatively rare and unique, and not a bad price for what it is.

Hey BonesNTX,

One of my bulbs has been flickering for the past few weeks and just went out today. You got your bulbs from highperformancebulbs.com....It's only been a few weeks, but how do you like them so far? Was it an exact fit?

Does anyone know the difference between D1S HID Bulbs which is sold by highperformancebulbs.com vs. Philips HID-D1S xenon headlight bulb sold by Geoff @ Alretta Truck Parts, Inc?
I read a lot of good things about Geoff on the forum, but his bulbs are 2x more than from highperformancebulbs.com. with they have it on sale for $89.99

Thanks
