MAny thanks for responding, can I clarify does the whole panel come off the alloy as well as the wood? including the adjustment for the air vent. Which side would you recomend starting from center console or soor.

Bye the way the alloy inserts you used look great! where did you buy?

A few more tips:

Some Tregs have a strange nut on the end near the stereo. You must either remove the stereo to undo or... Mine broke off, and I have left it off.

I had to remove the right (passenger) fuse box cover, as it has a little pin holding the panel.

This is a pretty sturdy panel, but be careful.

The aluminium trim parts I got from a german VW dealer. It's one of various trim options for Touaregs in Germany, but only a few are offered in the USA. :anger: Was not cheap though (1100 €)

Could you post wide angle pictures of your interiors? Would love to see the whole look.

Thanks,

SSP.

Can you advise the color code for the "engine spin" parts? This is usually the last 3 digits of the part number. Otherwise, just advise one complete part number and I can determine the color code.

Thanks.

Hey Jim, don't tell me you're thinking of stocking this now! You keep finding ways to take my money!

Who knows what the German's are thinking, but I've always read that metal type/finish as being called "spun metal" or "engine spun" It could be spin, but I would bet on spun. In case that might help chase this one down.

I hadn't considered thinking of stocking this but there was someone in the US looking for the parts. Who knows? At least you wouldn't have to worry about matching the wood color and grain!

Spockcat, the code in the german brochure for the trims is 5TE.
However, the code on the bill was 8B4.
eg. for the trim around the transmission stick the partnumber is: 7L6-863-916-DP-8B4

BTW: The best thing is that all the engine spin parts were labeled 'Made in USA'. Just great that the only way I could get them was during my last visit at home in Germany.

Ouch! $1,500 - too rich for my blood. I would have considered it for maybe half of that price.

Spockcat - you'll have to find some other means to take my money.

Another thought - I really like the 'Pappelmaser Schwarz' interior trim as well (trim code 5TA). What are the chances it's any less expensive? The pricelist on the german Touareg website is being revised and is currently unavailable as a result. Spock, without having to wait for a response from your office in Germany, do you have a guess?

Based on what I pay for the trim piece for the keyless start, the price of a normal set of trim (12 pieces) would be around EURO 750 to EURO 850. But I don't know if they charge more for the 'Pappelmaser Schwarz' interior trim as spare parts than they do for the other three wood trims.
