Alright to start off I live in a very cold winter area, tons of snow. Anywho, about end of January my car starts to die but would easily start right back up with it being jumped. fast forward to Feb 5th go out to warm up the car and won’t start, my husband grabs his car to go jump it, and this time all it did was give me power function for my doors, seats, lights, but my car wouldn’t crank over or even attempt to try and crank over.
Back story info: before this happened I did have a check engine light for a EVAP code saying the valve was stuck closed (haven’t gotten it fixed cause we’ll don’t have the money for that atm)
Back to Feb 5th. We sat and checked all the fuses in the car only one was bad and it was something to do with my headlights (changed it out) still nothing.
Called it for the day to research and figure it out, come back a couple days later to try and see if a jump start would work again same thing power to my lights and such no crank over not attempt to crank over, BUT this time a flashing loud beeping noise and on my dash now says Steering defective workshop. (It popped on while checking some relays) so not sure if that was why it came up on my dash or if just NOW that is the reason my car is not starting,
I’ve went back and forth for the reason of why my car does not work, (battery, spark plugs, starter, Fuses,) just EVERYTHING that I’ve read on here, on other sites, searching for it on my car itself, just nothing, it’s almost at 180,000 miles I’m just so frustrated and stessed over it, and I really want to pin point what the problem could be because I don’t have the money to fix every 50 million thing that COULD be wrong with it.. I need some more ideas, help, just anything really. PLEASE ANY insight will hopefully be helpful😭😭

Replace the battery as it is probably bad, how old is it ?

Tregs with low batttery voltage will throw all sorts of errors, so I am not surprised you appear to have a lot of random problems since you began jump starting the car.

Exactly why the car will not start now is hard to say without a Ross-Tech VCDS scan. With a new battery and clearing all the faults caused by low battery voltage you should be able to get an idea why it will not start if it continues not to.

cheers

No sure how old the battery is, it does looks new ish, but that could also be because the battery is under the seat so it might always look new hah! I bought the car from a private owner in September of Last year. We will replace battery and go from there. I was just stressing cause I put in one thing for research and I find all these other problems that could be it! 🤦🏻‍♀️ thank you!

Replaced the battery, I have power but car still wouldn’t crank over or attempt to start up, the SDW popped up again, do you know what I can do to get that error cleared?? Cause I really highly doubt my steering column is bad….. unless it is.. idk. But I wanna start with trying to clear the error.. if you have any insight on that?!! Thank you for your help!

The next step is buy a Ross-Tech VCDS or find someone who has a genuine one you can borrow ( not a chinese clone) and scan the car for faults and try restting all the faults and then see what happens and whether it starts and what faults remain.

Jumping the car main have blown some fuses so check all the fuses also

When you get a hold of VCDS, do a complete scan of all the modules and post it here. That will give some people here the right info to assist you
