I am trying to tap into power from my rearview mirror for my Escort 9500ix but I am unsure what color wires in the harness to use. I need switched power and ground.

I see others using the blue wire from homelink in the overhead console ... but I have an adapter (fused) specifically made to jump off the mirror (and it seems much easier to get into the mirrors harness).

Does anyone know which wire color is switched power and which is ground?

Thanks!

I wound up tapping power from the HomeLink system as other have done. I followed these awesome step by step instructions (with photos) found here http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1149500.

I also found a great website to order the cable (http://www.safe-n-sound1.com/Products.html) ... These guys were AWESOME. I chose a cable for an Escort, with inline chip-style replaceable fuse, AND a wired mute button and then had them customize the lengths of all parts (mute line 9", power line 18") ... shipped with a T connector power tap, zip ties, everything I needed. They made it and shipped it the day I ordered it! Arrived 2 days later (and all for under $20). They make cables/connectors for all major brands.

And for those that were also asking ... switched power from HomeLink is the black cable with the thin (and faint) blue line (you need a flashlight to see the blue line). The author of the link I provided above did an AMAZING job documenting his install.

Soup to nuts this entire effort took less than 30 minutes to complete and was SUPER easy ... Oh, and I mounted the mute button behind my mirror - it works great ... exactly like the one on the smartcord that came with my 9500ix.
