Anyone else see this? My drivers side wiper, right around where it mounts to the arm, bows up a bit in its up swing totally missing a 5" strip of windshield right in the middle of my forward view.

I had ~4 inch strip 3/4 up the wiper blade (not in the center) that was missing the windshield. So I replaced them with blades from the dealer, and the new ones are perfect.

Take the blade off the arm and if the curvature in free space is NOT uniform throw it out. IMHO stick with the OEM Bosch units.

New or not - they don't work correctly.

Did you have your windshield replaced before? The reason I am asking is that my original windshield cracked and insurance paid for a replacement which wasn't OEM, looks identical though but has 1 problem. My passenger side wiper doesnt make full contact to the glass and doesnt wipe a 6" strip. I thought the wiper blade went bad so bought brand new original wipers, same issue. The problem is the curvature of the non-OEM windshield is slightly off.

I had same issue in middle about 6 inches missing water on windshield with OEM blades but after taking back to dealer under warranty they swapped and was the blade. Sometimes there is a bad one in the batch. I stick with OEM bc they back it up for 12 months.

I had this ...

Blades on there are brand new
When I had my windshield replaced, it came back with this problem. Worked perfectly before ... didn't work after the repair.

The problem is that you need to get the arm onto the spindle correctly.

The fix:

Lift the wiper up away from the windshield like you're going to clean the glass or something.

Pop the little cap off the arm so that you can access the nut that holds it on. Remove the nut.

The mounting hole in the arm has splines that slip into grooves on the spindle. It should be a little loose - if not tap it with a hammer to loosen.

Reposition the arm so that the base around the hole is more perpindicular to the spindle - it'll seem like it's leaning too far away from you, but that's right. I placed a socket over the bolt and onto the arm and smacked it with a hammer a few times to get it on there good.

Replace and tighten the nut. Test this. If it's still not wiping correctly then lift the wiper, remove the nut, and adjust it to lean farther towards the passenger side. Replace nut, etc...

It may take a few tries to get it adjusted correctly, but I guarantee this is an adjustment issue and not a blade issue.

I suspect that this is caused when the wiper arm is replaced and tightened with the wiper folded down onto the glass. The upward tension keeps the hub from seating correctly. So always adjust with the arm up and the tension removed.

I dont believe that my wiper arm was touched in any way when they replaced the windshield except for lifting it away from the glass.

Read LGibson's post about a DIY windshield replacement. I printed this and gave it to the guys at the body shop so that they would be more familiar with the rain sensor removal and install. It also includes information about the windshield wiper arms.

My 08 does the same thing, and it annoys the HELL out of me. I might have to mess with the arm and see if that does anything. To the best of my knowledge, its still the factory glass in it, but I'm sure the arm could have gotten loose or moved a bit over the years.

Same issue here - I think the OEM blades are horrible - worst I've had on any vehicles. Mine chatter like crazy and like many I also have that 4-6" swatch that doesn't get covered well on the driver side. It can go away sometimes if I swap the blades from one side to the other - but chattering comes back soon enough regardless. I drive a lot in rain with the wipers OFF because the chatter makes my blood pressure go through the roof.

I've thought about shortening the length of the OEM blades a few inches to see if they lay better, and stop chattering as much - it's on my "to-do" list.

I had the same issue as Wholsea. Seems that the pressure from the arm is degrading over time. So do the paint on it. I replaced both arms in the end as it was not expensive. All good. Be careful to use a wiper arm puller and torque it up properly afterwards. Too much torque and you brake the pin on the wiper motor assy.

Guys on my T-Reg the drive side wiper cleans perfect on the upward swipe but on the way back it does not do that great of a job right in front of my eyes, this was true even when the blade was new right from the dealer - Any thought? I was thinking of shortening the spring to apply extra downward force.

Replace the driver side arm or bend it to work. There as a known issue with the arm from the factory not being right. New arm is a redesign if you will and will fix the issue. I did this to my 04. Most just tweaked the old one to make it work. Up to you how you may want to proceed. New arm was a complete fix for that for me on my 04.
