Hi, you can use the 2004 configuration, although the car was manufactured in 2003, it is referred to as a 2004 model.

You can pick up bolt on replacements from Repco stores everywhere. No problems at all.

 

Can anyone in Aus provide me with a part number or type for the replacement insert. Here in WA I am dealing with a bunch of muppets that are driving me crazy!

 

Wipers

I just pulled mine apart by removing the end caps and sliding out the rubber blade.

I went to Autobarn Brighton and was told by 3 seperate staff that i could not do what i needed to do and had to buy new wipers from either VW, Porsche or Audi. Moorons!

I bought 8mm blades that were long enough and had the correct profile, slid the rubber blade out, put it into mine, cut off what i didn't need and put the caps back on. The key is to spray a bit of silicone spray to make it easier to get the blades back into the original wipers.

3 minutes each blade. Total cost $14.

Supercheap will actually re-blade it for you and the local guy looks like he had done it before on a treg, but the quality of the refill blade is not that great.

I find Trico ones the best (much better than VW OEM), and you can reverse them, I'm onto my second pair in about 3 years and have not looked back. Mor expensive than OEM though ($40 / pair?? I think, can't remember that well).

 

Ok guys this is the latest. VW will try & sell you the entire wiper assembly at around $75.00 each.
However ask for part number 1KO 955 429, which is just the insert and costs $15 each. (Check their expiry date on purchase !)

The insert should fit 2003-2007 models aswell. Does it come with the plastic clips which hold the insert at the ends that can easily break?

 

Singh, yip you are correct.
It fits any 26" holder & comes with the clips.

 

Or, there's these off eBay:Item 360352587730...........bargain I'd say. If they're crap, I'll let you know. The seller has 185,000 sales! My 2nd set are just about due for the bin anyway.....squeak, squeak.

 

Got mine from eBay last week. The whole shebang with blades, arm and clip and it just snaps in. Happy!
