Ok RCMP (police for USA folks out there) asked me nicely to remove the film from the front side windows. No written warning or fines so I guess that's what I will be doing this weekend to avoid losing some cash.

His explanation was that if you get into an accident you will hurt yourself when the (safety) glass does not have a change to brake in little pieces.

Any tips how to remove it. Just a heat gun should work I guess.

that cop has no clue what he is talking about..Safety issue.??? I have never heard of this in my life. The tint/film will actually protect you .

and do not use a heat gun to remove the tint. have it professionally removed. should only cost like 50 bucks. the tint shop should remove them for free if you get a ticket. thats how they do it here in so cal...

Really don't like to remove it. Gets warm here in the summer (yes even in Canada) and it gives a killer looks.

However this is a small town and I am sure to run in the same cop again soon. Ticket will be good over $ 100 and a few points. Better to spend those points on a speeding ticket.... :)

That cop was selling you a load of crap. If the window breaks, the tint will keep the glass splinters and pieces from falling on you. These splinters and pieces are adhered to the piece of tint film.

The police here in Ohio don`t like the tint because they say it`s a visibility/safety issue.I think it`s a visibility issue for them...they can`t see what you`re doing as easily.

Interesting you mention that Fatbucker. The reason he stopped me in the first place is because he did think my seat belt was off. He did see me leaving the parking lot of the local shopping mall without a seat belt on.
However as soon as I got on the road I put on my belt (that's why I don't remove the irritating seat belt tone) and he stopped me a few minutes after that.

He obviously could not see me because of the film, and in stead of telling me he could not see me and was irritated by that, he came up with this story.

But again, no fine that's the good part.

that cop must not have liked you for some reason. was that the only reason he stopped you? if its against the law, he would have given you a ticket and then the ticket can be waived if you fix the issue. its a loud of garbage.

Removing film was easy. Just a sharp razor blade and you take it of in a few seconds. I do have to admit driving in the evening and night is a bit better.

mismatched tint

For newbies thinking of tint options......Here are some pictures of OEM tint on rear windows, and black 35% on front windows. I only had time to have the front windows done this week. I plan on putting black 35% over the OEM green tint on the rear. I had the front windows done at Creative Car Tunes in Harrisburg, PA. For other black tint applications, I use pre cut products from the user "Tintpro" on ebay. Both pictures are from my cell phone camera, I'll eventually get to taking better pictures and updated tint.

My car goes in for tint next tuesday, the plan is to do a 20% Huber Optik all the way around, including over the oem rear tint, so its gonna be dark back there. I anticipate it looking good with the "Offroad Grey" w/ the light grey interior that I have. Light interiors need darker windows to cope. I will definitely be doing pics on here as soon as its complete though, don't you boy's worry.
