Hi All -



I have a 2016 TDI and the rear windows have a greenish factory tint on them, not very dark at all. I want to get the front windows tinted but I don't think it will match well at all. I was even thinking of applying tint on top of the OEM tint so it would match with the fronts, plus I would like the windows darker in the back. Anyone have any thoughts on this or pictures.

It will all depend on your local tint restrictions. Where I am, tinting anything over the rear windows will result in them being too dark and ticket-worthy.

Also, there used to be a Llumar tint that matched the factory green colour, but I'm not sure it exists anymore. AT35GN or something like that.

Thanks. I'm not talking limo tint dark, especially not on the front windows. Good to know about the possible green tint - I'll contact my local tint shops and ask them about it.

All I'm saying is that putting a 35% film over a 35% film will not result in 35%. Here it would not be legal and no local tint shop would install it.

Try eBay for the film as I don't think your tint shop will find it.

I took mine to my local tint shop and they matched it perfectly, they didn’t order special green tint or anything.

Don’t tint over your rear as someone said before 35 over 35 will not result in 35 it’ll go down to about 5%. And you’ll never match the front.

Thanks. I contacted a couple good tint places local to me, one of them actually has the correct film. Have a appointment in a couple weeks. I do not plan on tinting over the rear tint.
